My wife is lost without Victory Baltic Thunder, which was discontinued. She enjoys Edmund Fitzgerald and Duck Rabbit Baltic Porter, but says they dont measure up. I'm looking for more options for her to try. Any recommendations for a porter on the sweet side with little to no bitterness?

I'll second Breckenridge. I'd also like to throw out Deschutes Black Butte, but I'm not sure you can get it in PA.

Smuttynose Robust Porter may not be sweet, but it's under-rated and delicious. I enjoy it like a great cup of coffee.

Here's a suggestion from out of left field, but may do the trick. I have found Baltic Thunder to be pretty heavy on the malt aspect, and even handed with the roast qualities (sort of like an imperial Schwartzbier). Maybe a Doppelbock with a hint of roast would do the trick- how does she feel about Celebrator?

Fantastic beer, but it seems she is looking for something a little heftier. Maybe Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout instead?

Foothills People's Porter was very good and I dont really like porters a lot. I'd also recommend Victory at Sea by Ballast Point

Keep your eyes peeled for Baltic Thunder on tap. If you're close to Victory, keep checking their brewpub menu and grab a growler when it's there. Has she tried Red Thunder or Duck Rabbit's Milk Stout?

The Oatmeal Stout is a great idea. It has the body, mouthfeel, and lack of bitterness she's looking for so she may not mind that it's not technically a porter. If that's not readily available I'd say go for New Holland The Poet, even though that beer is a bit thinner than Sam Smith.

So far Mackeson XXX stout has been her favorite replacement. I'm gonna gwt the Breckenridge vanilla porter for her to try.
