I love many styles of beer...ipa, stout, lager, pales, etc. but I have a soft spot in my heart for that "all-around" pizza, lawnmower, end-of-the-day solid non-adjunct brew. In the summer, I go through lots of SN Summerfest, and when it isn't available, I find myself having Weihenstephaner Original on hand the rest of the year. How about some more solid lagers and/or ales I can add to my lineup? What say you?

There's two for me. Number one, Yuengling. Number 2, Victory's Headwaters. Oh and forgot, Fresh Troegs HopBack Amber. Yeah, I could get dirty with those three beers.

Most of Metropolitan's beers fit that bill.

Despite the fancy style, I've felt this way about Off Color Troublesome. For me, a great summer beer.

I think Kenzinger is great, but I've never seen it outside of Philly. I like Left Hand's Polestar a lot also.

Sixpoint The Crisp for me. Little hop bite in a refreshing pilsner. Love it.

Think it's brewed with adjuncts, but Ballantine is the first thing that comes to mind when I see the word "beery."

Weihenstephaner original is as good as it gets for beery beer if you ask me.

Depending on where in Illinois you are, perhaps you can easily make it to Wisconsin, where you can get New Glarus Two Women Lager and Totally Naked. I assume Naked may go away for the winter soon. You also maybe would like Spotted Cow. Another NG that you might still find somewhere is Edelpils. The catch is, no distribution outside of WI.

Happen to have any reccs for German beer that's available in cans? My theory being somehow that might help negate the effects of shipping, older beer, etc.

Koenig Pilsner in cans. Beautiful, dry Northern German pils with a lightly floral hop bouquet. Pretty cheap, too. Prost!

Just my opinion, but I would not add Prima Pils to the list. Much more like an IPA/IPL than what you describe.
