Not looking for a palate challenge tonight, cold and delicious beer to go with the newspaper and some pandora mix.

Pumpkin Hunter by Devil's Backbone (VA). How far and wide do these guys distribute. Very solid line up, methinks.

Aged very well for being three years old.

Good evening BAs! Am in the process of sucking down this offering from Terrapin I found in Reading last week - it's actually pretty good, just a little too aggressive in the carbonation department:

Woohoo! Just made "Advocate" status. An achievement for drinking beer; I told my mom and she was so worried (by which I assumed she meant "proud"). Celebrating with this:

Not as good as I was hoping, but this one was young; will have to try one aged at some point.

New Glarus trip. Great Trip. Going to rate up there as usual with one of the best yearly beer portfolio's of the year along with Toppling Goliath, Surly, Indeed, Prairie, Boulevard, and 3 Floyd's thus far.

Think they are mainly in VA, but am guessing they have plans to expand to neighboring states (NC, DC, MD) whenever possible. This article is obviously a little old, but:

    http://allaboutbeer.com/news/devils...n-and-distribution-to-norfolk-virginia-beach/

Agree they tend to make solid beers (Vienna Lager is their most widely known, think it won at GABF), but I haven't seen anything that's going to be a heavily sought after beer, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Final science update of the evening. A straight wheat bourbon is slightly better than a rye, but not too much.

My recommendation, go with a traditional bourbon blend for the best pumpkin beer mix. Four Roses dominates in all areas in this arena. Just a splash will do.

Whiskey. The rye dominates the pumpkin too much IMO.
