Beating a dead horse but can't help but thinking how is a world without these beers better just because they can't make enough (yet) so that you can get one.

I just wish I had the time and the talent to brew stouts of this quality on my own.

That and a liver transplant at some point down the road.

With that said, I'm glad there are brewers out there like Mike who make beer worth my time. I can honestly say that every TG beer I've had the opportunity to try has been an amazing experience (including the 4oz of KBBS I got to try). So be thankful that you all live in a great area for great beers!

Lastly, DRINK THEM (or trade them reasonably) instead of teasing me over here in the 2nd worst beer state in America with these ridiculous 50x retail prices for a beer that belongs in someones glass rather than being held for a King's ransom.

I dig this. Twice in a row now TG has skipped all of the hype and BS breweries feel are necessary and silently released a much in demand beer. Basically the exact opposite of what Dark Lord Day created. Assassin was a fair chance to everyone in the distribution chain with only the community to blame for what went "wrong". It seems the TG Kentucky Brunch release was handled the same way but with distro from the brewpub. I really, really could go for more of this kind of release. Bummed I didn't get to try it, but I still agree 100% with how they are handling things currently.

Say what? Why? I don't get what you are talking about here? Are you having a little temper tantrum? Come on! Its just beer! Right?

Mike has been doing this longer than I've been into beer.. And Mike, one of the best brewers I know, will tell everyone that asks.. is that all it takes it time, practice, and interest..

I've been critical of TG recently, and perhaps unfairly so, but I like this. Locals have a strong advantage, and everyone else had no clue up until most of the supply was already gone. No weeks and weeks worth of speculation. Good on TG.

I agree. They weren't too cryptic about it (Clark did tweet something Monday or Tuesdayish that hinted at it), it allowed locals and loyalists to get theirs and it kept away the headache of a huge release. I'm sure plenty of people will complain about the "no more secret releases" comment, but I believe that was made by Mike, not Clark. I was lucky enough to try this on draft before TG exploded into what they are today, so I guess I can say I got my fix.

I remember saying that people wouldn't have to decode a secret message in order to get it; that was more in response to any cryptic messages floating about, but it doesn't really matter. What matters is the beer was done and bottled. I wanted people to be able to drink it fresh, and the logistics of dealing with a ticketed system just wasn't fitting together right with everything else going on. So, the bottles were waxed on Monday, dropped off at the taproom and we let it be what it was going to be. For us, it allowed the taproom to be properly staffed (not having to deal with a massive influx of people) and allowed locals and people who were coming to the taproom anyway have a first shot at it. I'm sorry that not everybody that wanted the beer was able to get it, but that would have happened with any route that would have been taken. The silent release kept the pace casual, not only for us, but those who made the trip. I want to thank everyone for the support of draft and bottles outside of the special releases.

    Cheers,
    Mike

We made the trip up last night, enjoyable experience as usual. Heard the story about you kicking out some guy soliciting your guests as well! Gotta say though, I can't wait until you can get yourselves some more beer at the taproom for your guests.

I don't think anyone can argue with any of that logic. Brilliant release!

Mike and the rest of the TG crew - well done with this one. I know it's not going to make everyone happy, but hey, you never can. If anything it hopefully gets the beer in the hands of people who will actually drink it and not trade if off for some other whalez they'll never drink.

    Like it too

    <--- Nebraska ;-)

Which obviously means I am not in their distribution (or all that close) but I did get a "tip" on the release on Tuesday night and decided driving that far a 12oz beer would be silly. Especially if the tip ended up being wrong. Cheers

For those keeping score at home, that's:

    Iowa: +
    Wisconsin: +
    Nebraska: +
    Minnesota: -

Assuming of course Douggo is allowed to speak for Minnesota.

I really don't think that there should be anything to be sorry about. It was a small batch, everyone knew it was going to be a small batch and I think that this was probably the best way to release it. I'm sure this release was a huge weight off of TG's shoulders as opposed to having to listen to people bitch and moan about Assassin/David/Naughty Temple...People are going complain no matter what, but I tip my hat to this release.

Also, decoding a secret message is what I meant to say. Secret release was certainly the wrong wording on my part.

A little off topic @TgBC, but are there any plans of brewing just a standard batch of Norsemans Wrath again?
