Well Magic Hat deserves the reputation that it gets but I think they really hit a home run with their new Scotch Ale. Best new beer from them in awhile IMO.

Is it sold in 6 / 12 packs like most of their beers? (Don't think I've ever seen a 22 oz. from them)

Man, while I love a good Scotch ale, I don't know if I could bring myself to drink more Magic Hat after the 9 lb Porter debacle.

I think it was Hex a few years back that was actually a very good beer. And HIPA is an above average IPA when fresh. Other than that, I don't know if I've enjoyed any other Magic Hat beer I've had.

Had Jinx years ago. It was mediocre at best.

I had all their beers fresh on tap at the brewery, and some are actually not too horrible when you have them so.
True story to add to it though, one of the lads working the taps at Magic Hat recommended I drive two miles south on 7 and have better beer at Fiddlehead. Still chuckle at that! ;D

Used to drink Jinx about 15 years ago and really enjoyed it. So much so that I went to one of their awesome Halloween parties costumed as "St. Jinxi Girl." Haven't touched their beers since they were bought out. I may try it for old times sake, but I no longer support the brewery.

I thought Heart of Darkness was a good stout

Jinx is an old beer for sure...definitely not something I liked years ago, pretty plain and tasteless like the rest of their lineup.

OK my bad. I thought it was new. On the box they are promoting it as a "ressurected rarity."

It's a resurrected rarity because it was retired around 2009. I actually liked this beer and was disappointed to see it replaced by the mediocre (like most Magic Hat) black lager Howl. I'm glad it's back. Drinking one as I type this.

I'll try it, but it safe to say the fine folks @ Founders are safe!

I bought a mixed pack from Costco with this in it. The entire pack was pretty mediocre. Wouldn't revisit any of them.

I went to Magic Hat this past summer while I was up there. True that none of their beers wow you. I did pick up a bottle of Humdinger Pils, 25 oz. I thought it was pretty decent. Better than most of their regular 12oz lineup. Although their latest pumpkin beer, Wilhelm Scream isn't too shabby. I could drink that everyday.
