Asked a friend for a recommendation on good belgian stuff when I first started my craft voyage, only wrote down the brewery name, so I ended up with St. Bernardus tripel instead of the Abt 12. Good mistake, as they're both great.

Not at the store, but last week I did go rooting in my fridge for a Little Sumpin' Extra, saw a bottle cap with a dog on it, and drank it. It was wildly different and far lighter than what I'd remembered. Saw the bottle about two hours later and realized I grabbed a DayTime instead. Suddenly it all made sense.

    Wild blue/red over flying dog...

    Third shift over third street....

Sometimes, it is most likely intentional.

Accidentally bought founders rubaeus when I was trying to buy devil dancer. they don't look that similar, but close enough I guess. It sure was shocking on the first sip

I was trying to pick out a good six. Spent a long time agonizing over which one. Decide on a brooklyn stout of some kind. Grab it real quick. When I get home I discovered I had brooklyn lager not the stout. Damn I wanted a stout not budweiser. I thoroughly enjoyed that sixer and realized that lager can actually be a mighty fine beverage.

I bought a bottle of He'Brew Funky Jewbelation. Reading the label it all looked good, barrel aged etc etc. I didn't know it was a sour. Tasted like piss but I drank it anyway. Ugh, awful.

I've never seen the Wild Blue or Red. Yet I understand your response. The labels are to close to resemble craft offerings. It's almost as if the Macro industries believe the common beer consumer to be uneducated, or ignorant. They should just stick to what they know...advertising.

I don't think you understand the difference between a mom and pop shop and a giant corporation. Besides, there isn't one Wegmans, Whole Foods, or Giant that sells beer in Philadelphia.

In that same vane, wouldn't I know the difference between "Festbier" and "Hop Devil"?

I most certainly do. That store is simply capitalizing on PA's horrendous laws though, so I suppose the blame lies elsewhere. In no other city in the US would a sixer of HopDevil cost $12.50.

New Holland hatter series beers are ridiculously similar in appearance but I like every single one of them...especially imperial hatter

Funny enough, I took down a sixer of the AV gose last weekend and loved it. Would have been similarly disappointed if I grabbed the Hop Ottin' instead

No but just a couple weeks ago i went to jacks abby brewery to get the framinghammer variants. I specifically ordered 2 of each variant. The man grabbed them from the warehouse rang me up and i went on my way...

An hour and a half later i get home to see i was given regular BA framinghammers instead of the Coffee Framinghammers. He understood me correctly because i was rung up and charged for the coffee, but he just gave me the wrong beer. I called them and the only thing they said was to come back and mention it to the guy up front. Hopefully they took a note down or something so i dont look like a fool wednesday when i go there again.

My Dad used to hate everything but Red Stripe and Foster's oil cans. He would go out of his way to specifically tell me how bad the IPAs I drank were...now he of course loves IPAs. But, he HATES stouts. He bought a bomber of Long Ireland Oatmeal Stout that he thought was a Pale Ale and said he drainpoured the whole thing after one sip.

Wish I was there to save it from the drain, but even moreso to have seen the look of bewildered disgust on his face after that first sip.

Just about every time I grab random beers at total wine I feel like I ended up buying the wrong beers.

At a mix a six area out of state, I went to grab a Narragansett simply because I hadn't had a beer from Rhode Island. Got home and it had mysteriously changed to the Napa Crush, which was alongside it. Not happy, that beer was pretty awful.

In a local restaurant, wanted a Fat Dog, but ordered a Turbo Dog instead. Cat Scan can't come soon enough (apologies for the pun), as long as I don't order the wrong procedure and get a colonostomy instead.

I grabbed some A Valley APA out of the can thinking it was not so long ago. It wasn't a pleasant surprise, but drinkable I guess.... That was a case of not reading the label based on an assumption, but I have also just plain grabbed the wrong single more than once, probably trying to walk & chew gum at the same time:grimacing:
