    Well, since you asked....

    1) It's a dick move. Plain and simple. There's no arguing around it.

    2) It gives off the wrong vibe - it makes craft beer enthusiasts look bad when you brag about how you're going to swap out beers in a six pack to the detriment of someone else's purchase. At that point, you're not being a craft beer enthusiast... refer back to my to point 1).

That next person who wants a full six pack of something will be short-changed because of your actions. Do you really not see this as a bad thing to do?

This only happened on one occasion. I was looking to buy the Stone Russian imperial stout. My local shop as a convenience to its customers would have at least one in the back already cold. At this point in the store, the owner who is not very knowledgeable about beer gets me the cold bottle. Little did I know when I got home he gave me the wrong bottle of stone. What he gave me was the Stone 18th Anniversary. As you can see below the labels look similar. I really wanted that stout but I didn't say anything when I went back.

I actually made that mistake. :flushed:
I'd had neither beer before so there was no shock involved. The Wild was very enjoyable (luckily I'm into Belgian and Belgian-influenced beers). So was the regular Sumpin' Sumpin'...when I finally got around to getting it.

I've bought the wrong beer in the sense that, alone on a brew run, I bought something other than what some guy specifically wanted because fuck him...

Never bought the wrong beer. But I did go into the wrong store once.

I once bought Carton Boat Beer instead of 077XX. I was pretty upset when I was at the music festival late night and wanted a higher abv beer, very disappointing.

On don't get me wrong, I really like Sumpin Wild (it might be my favorite of the bunch), it's just having a Belgian-style when you're not expecting it is really funny.

Happened to me just last week. I saw fresh MO on a shelf and went to grab two. The first bottle, the label was facing me. So that was undoubtedly MO. The other bottle, I only read the date. Same date as the first MO. Last night, I cook a delicious dinner for me and my girlfriend. What better pairing than two fresh MOs?

Of course, the other was not MO. It was Mean Old Tom. And it took me a week to realize it. Not that I'm complaining, but damn did I really want 16oz of MO last night.

So the next guy does not get what he is paying for, the store and or the brewery is going to have to answer for your dick move, but you come out ahead so its all good, right? Kinda like the assholes who steal glassware. Nothing is free, any added cost is always passes along to the consumer.

Don't be a dick, find a place that sells singles.

I think we all have bought beers on recommendation, and have been disappointed, being from Pennsylvania I see a ton of out of staters coming around looking for Yuengling and buy the wrong beer ,Yuengling makes a cheaper beer called Premium, instead of Traditional which is the Amber, the other is just well, unremarkable! Yuengling' s marketing is confusing and I feel misleading, albeit unintentionally so!

People actually drive to PA to buy Yuengling? Now I've seen it all.

My brother was coming over, so I picked up a sixer of Miller Lite for him, Walked in the door with it and my wife said "That's just wrong."

Yeah, in a different context though. I miscalculated what would kick and what wouldn't and missed out on some great beers, notably Parabajava. I had the opportunity to drink Parabajava at my neighborhood pub and it was gone the next day. If I had flip flopped my choices, I would have been able to enjoy both of them!
