While everything I seeing so far is just packaging, I think the main reasoning for the box is so people can cut out the eyes of the jack O lantern on the box, put a candle in it and display it proudly on their fraternities porch.

I like Pumpkin Beers, but we definitely don't need more. There are tons and tons of them now. It's not like 2003 where there were only a couple common ones. It's also one of those styles where 90% of them are indistinguishable from the rest.
What we need is for Schlafly's Pumpkin to go nationwide and for most of the others to go away.

Most likely this. I remember the packaging around graduation time had a card format where you can put a to: and from: and a big CONGRATS on the side. Good job college grad heres a 30 of the cheapest beer we could find!

Reminds me of a candy bar wrapper for halloween. Like the snickers pumpkin wrapper.

Is there a pumpkin beer bubble? You betcha!. If people begin to try new beers because of pumpkin beers, that's great. Realistically, in a great retail location, these beers really move. There are always leftovers and buying quantities is very dicey. It's like Beaujolais Nouveau in it's heyday; stack it high and let it fly. Then the stuff sat in back rooms collecting dust, and the "main" producers captured the Nouveau ground for good- albeit greatly reduced in sales volume across the board. Selling through quantities of well chosen pumpkin beers is a great challenge that's getting tougher with new beers everyday.

Couldn't agree more. I was at my local the other day and mostly glossed over all of the pumpkin beers. I picked out a few singles of one of my favorites from last year, and after a couple I was all set.

Luckily one of our brewpubs has a pumpkin fest in late October, so I can scratch my pumpkin itch all in one night, rather than buying various pumpkin beers at the liquor store. I'd rather save my money for the Oktoberfests.
