So, what you're saying is once he has a few beers he settles down? Bring him!

Todd confirmed to me on Twitter that this year's Darkness is 100% barrel aged in High West Rye barrels. Not a blend.

Hi All, looking forward to going to my first DD this year. What are the essential things to bring Darkness eve besides beer to drink/share/trade? Are there any food vendors the night before?

Gets pretty chilly at night, so warm clothes are a must. Last year I brought a portable fish house that really came in handy.

Also, do yourself a favor and bring some earplugs if your not a big fan of loud music when they open the gates on Saturday..

No food vendors at night, but they had coffee trucks for Saturday morning last year.

Brett told me this same thing in the New Glarus peach line. Can't wait!

@Dobbsyo, I brought a lot of water last year and that was really helpful. Not only to consume but to rinse our glasses between beers. Food is an excellent idea as there is much beer consumption for many hours. One gets hungry and too buzzed if on an empty stomach.

Awesome, thanks all for the input! Super pumped to be able to make it. Will bring some fun stuff to share and will look at throwing myself on the list for some trades.

What time does the music start on Saturday?

Can I bring a backpack to fill with beer/water/food? Would also like to hear opinions on fanny packs.

Probably a good idea. Also easier to move around when the line starts forming in the morning assuming you camp. When people really start moving, you need to be prepared to collapse your tent and get it packed away ASAP as to not lose your spot in line.

And be a gentleman and if you end up near a firepit that's still going, stoke it. There's a 99.9% chance of it being cold as balls this weekend, it never fails.

I hope they have Cacao Bender kegs in the morning. So great after a night of drinking! :grinning:

Just moved to MSP and this is going to be my first Darkness Day. Hoping to make it out Friday and Saturday but probably coming out alone since I don't know too many people in the area. Pretty excited at the prospect of coming out for some trades and shares the night before. Any tips for the new guy would be appreciated.

My opinion on fanny packs is that one can never wear enough of them.

Hell, my wife and I are bringing the grill, grabbing a bunch of sausages from kramarczuk's and she's making these http://thebeeroness.com/2012/11/01/chocolate-stout-truffles/. So I'd say you're in the clear with fanny packs and such.

Also, have we established the earliest you can get there on Friday? Seems as though Friday has been thrown out. Anyone have an official ruling?
