Parabola in Chicago

Hopped on my scooter as soon as saw this. 5 minutes later i saw a couple other presumed BAs with the exact same purchase as me; one Parabola and a sixer of Zombie Dust!

 

Thank you sir, but I picked up 2 today and only had to miss a half day of work kind of.

 

Great tip, they still had both at 4:45 and I was not the only BA there getting some. Thanks.

 

The list didn't start today. I started the list about 1 1/2 to 2 months ago. Since Dave has taken over as beer manager he does have lists for special releases. It took me awhile before I found that out as well, since some of the employees didn't seem to be aware of it. I'd suggest actually stopping in and talking to either Dave or Matt with questions about beer releases/lists, etc. They are both nice guys and neither will steer you wrong and you'll be assured that you are getting the straight scoop.

 

Someone ought to compile a list of "the guy(s) to talk to" at area liquor stores.

The best way is to just go in and talk to them. Try developing a relationship with your beer guy. Calling is sometimes worthless... Yesterday I called a Binnys I have never frequented but was going to be around. After having to SPELL Parabola to him, he went on to tell me how only 1 Binnys received any at all so far. So I wasted 3 minutes of my life, but I guess that is what I got for not dealing with one of the major players at a local Binnys. LP Binnys : Adam (Vav)

Btw... Try your local liquor stores and wine shops. They all appear to be getting it in Chicgo.

I just got back from Lakeview Binny's and got a bottle. Totally redeemed my day. I drove to Capone's because the guy told me he'd save me one, got a $120 ticket on the way there, and he told me they were out. He blinked and looked down as he said it and was blatantly lying. I'm sure that he forgot who I was and never actually put me on the list. Went to West Lakeview Liquors and they said they were out. Again, got the feeling they had some saved, but I'm not on any damn lists. Got home and was stewing about being out $120 and not even getting any damn Parabola when I read this. I just bought a $135 bottle of Parabola, but at least I got one.

 

I don't like the guy who works at Capone's. He updates his beermenus list everyday with the same old beer that is either sold out or is for people on a list, its to get you in the store. He once offered a friend of mine a KBS off the waiting list if he bought a $20 Mikkeller(?)

 

Oops. I stand corrected. In any case, got my first Parabola from LV Binny's and met my first BA (Moe) at Beer Bistro North while enjoying BCBS on tap. I'd call that a great Thursday evening.

 

how long was the bcbs going? did it kick?

 

Started at 5, still on. All bottles out except Night Stalker @ $22 per

 

Getting off track a bit, never been in the store, but I think he updates that site multiple times a day!

 

Annnndddd back on track to the important info:
Nevada's at 2600 W Chicago apparently has it sitting on the shelf right now. 1 per person.

 

I guess I wasn't supposed to out my friend's store after all, but I hope those of you who went (mules and all) turn into repeat customers!

FW seems to make a large quantity of beer, it's kind of surprising how much the demand is seeming to outpace supply on this one! I did grab it on draft at RevBrew but I'm looking forward to opening mine alongside my Sucaba and XV bottles some night.

 

Gold Coast Whole Foods had 4-5 bottles on the shelf as of... 1pm or so. No price listed; no clue if there's more in the back. Also, Zombie Dust and Lolita (at a reasonable price, even)!

 

I called gold coast WF 15 minutes ago and they said they haven't received it yet. The one on huron?
