I know know it's early for this post but I haven't had a chance to brew since late May, I'm itching to brew and I'll be off the grid tomorrow.

I plan to brew a festbier (Marzen/October type beer). I'm late on this one but that's ok it will just have to be enjoyed off season.

And I plan to brew a version of the APA.

I'm going to be doubling up all of my brew days to refill the cellar. I have 11 batches planned over the next 6 or 7 weeks.

    Let the brewing begin....

I just bought the grain for a Schwarzbier that I'm going to try this weekend. I'm also trying to build up a supply for my Birthday party in November, we'll see if it lasts that long.

I will be kegging up my 10 gals of IPA and 5 gals of IIRA. Picking up my portion from a collabo brew with a local brewery too. Clean up the brew house. Probably plate a few yeasts.

@Naugled are you doing any of those as split batches?

If you mean the saisons, they are scheduled for a couple of weeks out. I have three different saison dregs in starters now, the 91' Vapeur Folie, some Stillwater, and a farmhouse/brett blend from a local homebrewer. Once I get these up to pitchable quantities I plan to brew up a 10 gal batch and split it either into 2 or 3 fermenters. I have a full vile of the 91' Vapeur dregs set aside in the cooler for you.

I sampled the 91' Vapeur about a week ago with a couple of buddies. It was better than I expected. It was horribly 'corked' but it was easy to look past that flaw because it was so distinct. It had a very pleasant and prominent lambic aroma, which was probably not intended for this style but it didn't detract from it at all. So I decided to try the dregs as is to see what I get. The corkiness should go away, and I think it will take some time for the lambic quality to present itself. So I think it will make an interesting saison in the short run, and with age it may gain some lambic qualities. Once I get it in the bottle I'll send you the dregs along with a bottle of the finished beer.

Sounds awesome! Looking forward to it.

I was actually asking about the 11 beers in the next 6-7 weeks. Are you doing completely separate mashes and boils in one day, or are you doing any as single mash and then split up? There is an article in the new BYO (not the current Pumpkin one) about doing single mashes then splitting into partigyle or separate boils or same boil with separate fermentations.

It will vary by brew. I have a couple traditional partigyle's planned, meaning 1st runnings for one beer, 2nd runnings for another. More typically I will mash and sparge for the first brew, then cap the mash with more malt for the second brew.

The couple of partigyle's planned, will be for a Porter and a Mild, and another for a Dunkle with the second runnings being used to top off a few sours.

I brewed a brown ale today, that I will add coffee grounds to before bottling.

    7 lbs Maris Otter
    1 lb Caramel 60
    1 lb Flaked Oats
    8 oz Aromatic
    8 oz Chocolate
    8 oz Black

    .5 oz Columbus at 60
    .5 oz Willamette at 30
    .5 oz Willamette at 0

    White Labs British Ale Yeast

Measured OG of 1.052. A tad low, but I'll take it.

    Happy brewing!

I'm racking an English barleywine onto some bourbon and oak tomorrow. On Sunday I'm brewing up a brown ale for the fall.

Bottling a brown ale and brewing an ipa. Everyone got their xmas ale brewed already? I feel late to the game. I've only got 5 of 10 gallons I need.

I bottled up 18 gallons of a new triple last night. If my grain order comes in today I'll grind that up for the next batch, a la chouffe house beer.

No Brewing, but I will likely be harvesting some, if not all, of my Cascade hops. Looks like I may have a couple of pounds when all is said and done.

All kegs, clean beer fermenters, and Berliner fermenters are full right now, so I don't have much open... but the wife is gone all weekend and I have plenty of free time.

I'll probably bust out some of the glass carboys I rarely use so I can brew something to make use of my backlog of ECY bugs.

Getting after the partigyled pseudo-Thomas Hardy/Pope's AK tomorrow morning. Homebrew shop didn't have Fullers or Windsor strains, so ended up picking up Boddington's strain. I've only brewed with it once years ago. Has fairly low attenuation and somewhat clean profile so think it maybe a good fit for Eldridge Pope. Got 3L on a stirplate last night.
Grain bill will be as follows:
12# Muntons MO (they were charging $100 for a sack of Crisp Gleneagles MO...couldn't do it)
    11# Valley Malt 2-row
    1# flaked corn
3# invert #2 (split evenly between the two beers)

Temps suppose to bottom out in the upper 30s, maybe a brisk start.

    Brewing up some ESB tomorrow.

Irish red and IPA are fermenting away, and koelsch is lagering. Sour is carbed up and just needs to be bottled off the keg; we can't decide if we want to go through the hassle of bottling the full batch off the keg or just do a 24 pack, then drink the rest out of the keg.

Anywho...will have a lot of beer on tap soon with a nice variety, which is good because I'm about to be a father. C-section is scheduled for the 9/25, and for some reason, I don't see any brewing happening in the near future.
