How is the selection at the Binnys in St. Charles. I've been to South Loop and found good stuff, and Always hear about the Lincoln Park location having great selection. I'm going to be going to St. Charles for a concert in October, and since it's right there thought I'd shop. If S. Loop or Lincoln is better I'll take the drive to them.

    Thanks for the feedback.

South Loop and Lincoln Park are much better than St Charles, especially in regards to getting allocation of the more "sought after" releases. Their selection is great, but the other two locations are definitely better.

LP is def the best but dont sleep on the Glen Ellyn or Downers Grove binnys... They have sharp roofs, its rough on the spine. But actually they were both pretty impressively stocked last time I visited, and the staff were quite friendly and knowledgeable!

St. Charles is one of the best stores for that area, but it's definitely not one of the top tier Binny's in the entire Chicagoland area. As said, LP Binny's is head and shoulders above it. Even staying in the western suburbs, Downers Grove, Naperville and Glen Ellyn have it beat.

Great info all. Thanks a lot. I kind of figured that was the case, since I have Saturday open, driving to get a better selection is worth it for me.

St. Charles is also the newest Binnys in the area (afaik) . ..

Their selection is quite good, in my experience. Certainly not worth driving to another city's Binny's, unless you're coming when a super .rar beer is coming out maybe???

Lincoln Park certainly has more beer, but unless youre looking for something quite obscure(imported beer), I think you'll be more than satisfied at StC.

I wouldnt get too hung up on going to different binnys, especially when it involves about a 3 hour round trip from St Charles, or at least an hour diversion on the way to St Charles. All the binnys are basically for the most part very similar, and all pretty much get the same stuff. Yes the South Loop and Lincoln park are bigger and get larger allocations. But they get larger allocations because more people shop there meaning stuff sells a lot quicker so it really balances out. If you are specifically looking for some hidden gem, chances are so are a lot of other people, and you are not going to randomly stumble upon it at Binnys.

Not looking for anything in particular. I've been there usually in the summer, this is the first time at this time of year, so not even sure what I will run across. Part of the fun for me. I just go through and see what's available and what looks interesting.

Is the Downers Grove location the old Sams? With a Frys right by it? That would totally make it worth it. :-)

Yes sir, that's the one. Right next to Home Depot. I still remember seeing stacks of '09 BCBS bombers just sitting around. Ahhhh those were the days.

DMK is close to Binny's Downers Grove. Good place for a good burger and a solid beer selection. A little further away in Glen Ellyn is the Bavarian Lodge. Definitely worth the trip. Amaze-balls food and beer selection.

Thanks. This is a trip for a concert (Closest the band has ever played to us), and it's my GF's and I's 2yr anniversary, so a nice dinner is a good thing. The trip to Binny's (And lunch at 3 Floyd's on the way Home) is a nice bonus.

Bavarian Lodge is one of the most amazing places to eat and drink in the state.
