So as I'm sitting in the delivery room awaiting my first born son to come out I figured id have some fun to see of others are as committed to their craft beer passion or if maybe it's time to seek help...

Along with the "hospital bag" bag for my wife, Jambox, change of clothes etc. I brought a cooler bag with a CBS, DB Huna, Pogachevs Cobra, King Sue and Utopias 12, plus snifters of course for family and friends to celebrate, not all this is for me I swear.

So as I wait to pop some bottles when the little man comes, I pose the question: have others walked the line I am today or should I just seek help while at the hospital???

    Cheers!

No different than bringing sparkling wine. Congrats, and enjoy the celebration...then make sure you get as much sleep as possible. You're going to need it.

First thing after the wife puts in nearly a year of hard work carrying the baby she's gonna have to drive you home? Nice

    Edit: congrats

Congrats! The world could always use another beer nerd.

Did you get the little guy a faux beer beard to wear for now until he can grow one on his own?

I personally am glad I had my wits entirely about me when my little one came. Not sure when you're going to have time to have that kind of celebration.

Sounds like you're going camping and not to the hospital. The first day so crazy I prefer to wait until I have time to really enjoy and celebrate.

    Congrats and party on.

More important things than beer, leave it at home. Your going to look like a tool.

when the baby pops out, immediately put him/her in a bourbon barrel, seal it, and say "see ya next year, hope you improve with age."

    kidding. congrats.

I'd wait until you got home. That first night or two when the wife and baby are still in the hospital are the last two nights of peace and quiet you're going to get. Besides, you'll appreciate whatever you're drinking more at home with the right glass.

Did I mention the peace and quiet? Congrats, for sure.

Congratulations, I don't see a problem with a small celebration for your first born.

My old man brought in a 12 pack and a pizza when he came to visit us after our twins were born. My wife asked if it is Ok, my reply was it is until someone tells me differently.

I will say they were the only beers in the communal fridge on the floor.

I just have birth to my second daughter, and my husband made sure to have craft beer ready for me after having to spend nine months sans beer. So kudos to him, and congrats/cheers to you!

I didn't bring any beers to the hospital because my family would have called me an alcoholic. I waited until we got home, then I opened up an Iris.

    Congrats, kids are awesome.

I won't tell you what me and friend were during but we had to wait over 12 hours. I never thought about celebrating and I really seriously doubt they let you drink in that Texas hospital but hey that was so long ago its not funny. Plus my first born, was born when I was 17 still. I was close to 18 but it was like 4 months away...lol.

    plus I HATED BEER THEN.

congratz and cigars are no longer a thing either, lol

I just had twins in May and I can honestly tell you when it all happens, you will be too busy to even think about beer. It changes your life forever and it is amazing event. My brother in law drover for 7 hours that day to come to the hospital and it was late at night. He pulled out an Ommegang beer from his bag (I don't even remember what it was) and wanted to share it with me. Did I partake? Yes. Do I even remember what the beer tasted like or if I liked it? Hell no. I was really glad we had that moment and he cared enough to do that. Just enjoy the moment and leave the celebration for a night when a grandmother can watch the kids! Good luck and Congrats!
