I was curious if it is considered to be in poor taste to trade away beer you have just received from a trade? Obviously people trade bottles they acquired in the past, but this is referencing the action of quickly doing so.

    Perfectly acceptable IMO

Once my beer has left my possession it could be drain poured, traded, used as shooting target...it's no longer mine and I got what I wanted out of the trade so life is good =) IMHO

I have a couple of exceptions to that rule. I won't re-trade, at any point, if it's a beer:
    1. sent to me by my trade partner who went out of his way to get it for me so I can enjoy it; or/and
    2. I only have 1 of and haven't had it before

I like what @mythaeus said more than "do whatever". I think there is nuance.

I break it down this way: there are trades that are more "transaction" based and trades that are more "relationship" based. That's my spectrum. Going into a store and buying something is purely transactional. Getting a gift from a friend is based on relationship. What's appropriate ettiquete depends on where something sits on that spectrum. If I send a regular trade partner something and they immediately trade it, I'm quite a bit less likely to want to go out of my way for them in the future since they saw me as a means to an end; they thought there was more value to be extracted from the beer I sent them. If it's a one and done, yeah, do what you want. On the few occasions I've wanted to trade something a regular trade partner sent me - either because I had multiples or it was something I'd had before and didn't like - I asked if it was cool to trade it.

What falls in the middle are the first trades that may turn into regulars. IMHO, if you want to develop a good relationship with a new trade partner ... probably best not to flip the beers they send you or, at the very least, be discreet about it.

I think that if I knew someone went out of their way for me and I led them to believe I wanted to enjoy the beer and then flipped it that would be a slightly different story. Usually when I trade for something I really want to try I make that pretty obvious (even in my ISO thread). I could see being a little bummed if someone told me they really wanted to try something and I was excited about being able to hook them up only to find that they had immediately flipped it that would be like =\. I don't think I would lose any sleep over it but I can see your point to a certain degree. Think I would just laugh and say you cheeky bastard to be honest though haha. I don't get to emotionally attached to beer maybe they really wanted the beer initially but it ended up getting them something they wanted more which could be a possibly more rewarding feeling.

I think it's perfectly fine TBH.

I'm gonna go against the majority here and throw out my stance:

    1. I would rarely, if ever, trade away a beer I traded for. I traded for it for a reason.

    2. When in negotiation for something (especially if its been around for a little while) I ask if the person is the original owner. I don't want a bottle that's been traded across the country 5 times

I once traded a guy a somewhat sought after bottle after he pretty much begged me to do so as he had always wanted to try it. He couldn't offer anything that great in return but I agreed to the trade because I'm a nice guy. Few weeks later he posts an ISO using the bottle he begged me for as his FT. I wanted to call him out publicly and privately but instead I just put him on my personal do not trade/ignore list

I understand your point. Only thing I can say is maybe you traded for that beer because you know somebody else will want it and what you have to offer won't be appealing. Say you trade quantity for a couple higher quality beers you can then pass along for something you were originally looking for but unable to obtain.
