I'm not 100% sure how distro laws work when it comes to brewpubs, but since Funky and Due South go with Brown does this mean there's no chance of Wakefield collabs on tap, or even just a guest draft? Doesn't wynwood use Brown as well?

What about non-brewery bard like Lion and Eagle? I mean if the Yardhouse is any indication I believe they can have multiple distributors deliver goods.

Also funky is considered a brewpub at the lounge so maybe they can have multiple distros deliver kegs?

I really have no idea, hoping someone smarter than me does.

Yeah that article is about 10 months old. I did chuckle seeing "Brewery Opening Still on Track" in the headline. Don't get me wrong it will be worth the wait. Very much so.

doubtful that Buddah will ever get a keg of JWB unless it's donated by the man himself. I don't see them allowing Gold Coast on their taps anytime soon.

Just as a note, none of the mentioned are brewpubs. By the state's definition a brewpub makes food on premise as well as beer. Brewpubs also technically can't distribute their product. There are two different licenses for brewpubs and production breweries in Florida.

Funky, Wynwood and Due South are all Brown distributed. We also buy our guest taps through Brown because that's who we are used to dealing with. It would be completely up to the individual brewery if they want to then also deal with Gold Coast to get a guest keg.

Bars purchase from multiple distributors all the time. No one in this state carries both Bud and Miller products so even if you are just a dive bar that has swill on tap you are dealing with at least 2 distributors to satisfy that. Lion & Eagle purchase from a number of distributors.

Very true. I have 3 beer distributors at my bar. As far as small collaborations it usually depends on where the beer was brewed as to who distributes it. For example when funky did theirs with dogfish head it was released through dogfish heads distributor because it was brewed up there. Very much looking forward to Wakefield as well.

Either the lounge or OP can get non-Brown kegs, just all up to if they want to deal with non-Brown Dist. or not. At least, I think that is how it reads.

How about we worry about all this when Wakefield finally opens up in 2017?

We do purchase from multiple distributors at the lounge. We want to support good beer, especially good local beer. So we try not to penalize them for choosing the wrong distributor!

Just to clarify I was referring to the brewery. Not the lounge. The lounge has had different beers from different distributors in the past. Hoping JWB can live up to the high expectations. Everything I've had from him has been pretty good, but they have also been real niche type beers. It will be interesting how the general Public will react to their beers, I'm also curious how the "core" beers will taste.

Anybody with a COP license can order beer from whoever they choose. Actually, it goes against the "Tied house evil" clause if you don't and could cause problems for the license holder and distributor.
