I looked for a post but didn't see anything about the release of ten FIDY. Just had a glass and once again Oscar Blues delivers! I am going to do my best to start about a 3 or 4 year vertical.

Yeah it's a great beer. My problem is it's so good fresh why age it.

^^This. No need to age this beer.

No "need" to age because it's so tasty fresh but it does see some changes with a few years on it. 2012 is drinking amazingly right now - way better than '13 and slightly better than '14.

Most beers don't need any aging but I think it will give me the opportunity to test different levels of temperature and how it changes a beer. Keep a couple in the fridge, couple in the closet and a couple in the garage and see what happens without spending a lot of money.

Don't need to age it yourself. My stores usually have at least year old stuff on the shelf, and I do buy it occasionally, knowing it's just as tasty with a year or so on it.

Out here I havent seen it in over 5 months. I am really looking forward to aging it in different scenarios and comparing them

    Yes!
My store just got the new batch in yesterday, enjoying a glass now and it is godly.
One of the best BBA stouts I've ever had was a Maker's Mark Ten Fidy from last year (so it must've been a 2012 batch)
I which I believe it was a one off for a local bar.

Really liked it fresh. But I did hold back a can and I've been aging for exactly a year now. Gonna crack it open here in the next couple of weeks, then compare it to my tasting notes from when I had it fresh. Looking forward to it. I'm so glad that OB expanded into Kentucky, probably one of the best surprises the first time I walked into the bottle shop and saw a dozen 4pks of Ten FIDY hogging up shelf space right at eye level. Oh happy day.

This is one of the realist answers....ever! I buy "accidental" vintages of Ten FIDY waving from 2012-2013. I thought it was a year-round offering because they just sit on the shelves here year-round.

One of my favorite IRS's. It does seem to make the occasional appearance in and around Philly most of the year. And I'd agree it's one of the few Imperial Stouts I prefer fresh. Most I love aged.

This has been discussed many times and the general consensus is that it's best fresh. I found this to be true as well. You'll find it a total waste of time to age Ten Fidy.

I'd just love to have it in Missouri. Fresh or aged, I don't care.

I like it with a little age on it, so appreciate that I can usually find last year cans on the local shelves....or at least always could when I was living in Colorado. Haven't checked to see how things stand in Kentucky but do believe I have seen Ten Fidy on the local shelves consistently since moving here, which only means its from last years stock. So it would appear to be a win for me.

I have a couple cans from last year, new batch just out here and I picked up a 4 pack. Such a big beer for me to a side by side by myself. I'll have to find a way and get back with my opinion.

Just tried this. Got a growler from wholefoods. Now I need to find some cans.

ten FIDY is one of my favorite RIS fresh, and is one of my favorite with age. A great, widely available beer to cellar.

I wish California would allow growler shops. We are only allowed to get growler fills from breweries and it must either be the growler from that brewery or a blank or covered one

Colorado does not have growler shops either. Our breweries are a bit more liberal in the sense that they will fill anyone's growler, but it's still brewery-only.

Had a 2012 over the 4th of July. Didn't like it near as much as the fresher one.
