Hey guys, one of my favorite parts of being a BeerAdvocate is giving away some of my hauls to others to share the joy. Does anyone else do this?

Beer Karma is real. The more I give away and share, the more bottles I seem to find in my cellar.

I just started a full time job last month, so I would love to do this in the future.

You talking about giving away just to give away, or giving away as in extras in a trade, or giving away to friends to enjoy.

While trading I always include 3+ extras.

Majority of the beers I buy/trade for I do it to share with my buddy. There are very few bottles that I have bought or traded for that I didnt share.

I've definitely donated more then I've received.

I love giving others the chance to try a new beer or just a beer that I thought was great or interesting. This doesn't stop at beer.

I always include extras when trading, but I'm specifically referring to sharing beer with friends and acquaintances that have never tried them. I love seeing people find new beers they love.

I do but locally to friends or at least bring some over for people to try "Something different" or at least bring something fun to beer tasting clubs even when I am not the main presenter,

I put together a mix a six for a coworker who claims to hate all beer but has only tried BMC stuff. Was gonna give it to him today but we got rained out and I stayed home.

    ... times two.

Once you do, you will be blown away by the generosity of the BA's on this site. Beer karma is very, very real! I'm a believer.

No wonder you give away so much incredible beer! How selfish! :stuck_out_tongue:

I have not yet been the recipient of such a gesture but I have been building up my Beer Kharma lately (throwing a few extras in with trades, introducing friends to some of my favorites, bringing local stuff back when out of town.) I know it all works itself out and I look forward to it.

My boss also works part time at a liquor store, so I occasionally find the random bottle or can on my desk.

But, I regularly give (and receive) a random bottle of something with a different co-worker - kind of a "hey, I think you'd like this" thing. Which is how I got to try Summit's Rebellion Stout and Three Floyds Gumballhead, and he got to try Summit Southern Cape and a Modern Times Black House. And various other stuff. They weren't trades, just random times when we had an extra bottle or can of something to share.

I expect to share half of my beer... with my wife.

All of my close friends enjoy craft beer but they aren't as deep in it as me, So whenever they come over I always let them try some new stuff that they and/or I have never had. They usually return the favor so beer karma must be real!

I picked up two cases of Heady in VT and basically gave one away. My neighbor gets two four packs because, when he gets Hop, Drop & Roll, I'll get two four packs of that. Then a beer here and a beer there to friends who never had it before or love it as much as I do. The second case is split with my wife. When I got back from VT a neighbor, my brother and a friend of his stopped by and we had a bit of a "tasting" party where we went through maybe a dozen different beers I picked up while up north. Last night at dinner at a neighbor's, six of us killed a growler of Enjoy By and another of Pizza Boy 100% Nugget IPA.

The point being that sharing is half the fun! Can't say I've done any trades or anything with anyone on BA, at least not yet, but there are so many people around me that are into good beer that it's tough just keeping up with them! And what comes around goes around. I'm as much a receipent as I am a donor.

Funny thing is, it's never been my intention to get anything back ... it just happens when you least expect it. I just enjoy sharing great beer.

All the time, I'd like to push the limits of whatever my friends think they like.
It's a bit rewarding to have a friend that wouldn't go beyond a regular Sam Adams coming from a trip with a limited release for you.
    Sharing is caring

This, pretty much. Particularly since my friends are all over the map so when I do see them I usually bring something along, we drink some together and depending on the situation leave something for them. Plus I'm mostly a social drinker so apart from trying a few on my own I usually bring stuff along for house parties or certain occasions and let people try stuff.
