think that thread title was extremely annoying? I sure as hell do.

Would love to see a forum rule against excessively vague thread subjects. Thread titles are to give a user some sort of idea of what they are clicking on, but titles like this don't do that. If I can't even guess at what I will be reading about by looking at the subject, the thread title should be changed. (not sure if this functionality is possible on the user end?) I'm sure I miss out on some interesting stuff and I have definitely read some asinine BS. Both situations would be avoided by descriptive titles.

I do find it annoying. Especially when the thread is something trivial and is pointless banter.

    For example:

Thread title - "Why is it that..."

Message - "...the last bottle of Arrogant Bastard I had tastes like poop?"

But can you really control that?

I have seen forums with rules against vague titles like that. Report it just like anything else and it either gets changed or deleted. Then I guess we will see a boatload of threads like:

There was a great thread a while ago that sort of focused on moronic thread titles, but instead of changing the rule about thread titles, they decided to stop letting people change the subject of their own posts. Hilarious thread though.

I take it you are on a mobile platform? Because on a computer if you mouse over the thread it lets you preview it.

I post both on my phone and on my computer. I understand how the forums work, and know that I can preview the OP if I hover on the title. Regardless, vague thread titles are obnoxious and unnecessary.

What is the value of letting people post stupid meaningless thread titles? There is definitely value added by making people be at least mildly descriptive when creating a thread.

I'll get on board with this if it gets rid of all the "FT:List ISO:List" threads in the trading section.

i know it's asking a lot, but i'd like a sub-rule such that when this happens:

    OP is immediately banned.

edit: i'd almost go so far as to request an auto-time out (week long) for "it got you to click on the thread, didn't it?" and a few permutations of the same thing.

I'm not as upset by those. At least list a few beers or a description of what you are looking for or to trade would be really nice, but because sometimes those lists are really long and when I click on them I generally know what I am going to see I don't mind as much.

Yeah, just some highlights would be fine with me, but you can't get more generic than the list for list threads.

Better than FT: list/or specific beer ISO: something good, you tell me!

Yeah, they are pretty good about nuking auction threads like that. But the ones that do get through are annoying.

What's more annoying is when no one reports them and only complains about them in threads.

Report bad threads. We'll take care of them.

    Cheers!
