They have been "moving" to a "new facility" for the last 10 years. I am happy that the groundbreaking is only "weeks" away.

The article said the brewery hopes to have settled into the new location by fall of 2015... that's hardly a solid deadline but I'm trying to be optimistic. Still, haven't seen any official statement by Live Oak yet...

They have owned a location for years. The location is not the issue...it is north of the airport.

This is where I read the couple of weeks timeframe:

    http://crafttaste.com/live-oak-brewing-to-start-canning/

"Live Oak will be relocating to a larger facility, once the new brewery is built, that is. Construction is set to begin in the next couple of weeks. Live Oak’s new brewery will greatly increase production. The additional output will be used to propel their canning line. The new brewery will be situated on 20 acres of undeveloped land on the Colorado River just north of the airport, according to Wikipedia. They are hoping to be in their new digs by the Fall of 2015."

Ah, I was under the impression they had purchased land recently. Damn, I got all excited. Guess I should temper expectations until they've got most of the new brewery built.

They told me 5 years ago when I first did the tour that they already bought some land....so who knows what is the truth.

How much of a travesty is it that I have lived in TX over five years and have had neither Live Oak Pilz nor their Hefe?

I had Oaktoberfest a year or so ago, and it was pretty dang good.

I actually don't see Pilz as often as I would like in Houston. Although I rarely look past "Lone Pint Yellow Rose" on a menu if it's on there

Until I see an update with an actual building.....hell, I will take foundation being laid, I will not believe they are building a brewery.

    Same here, except Boston Lager.

Culture and outside influence are overrated.

This would be very welcomed, as I wouldn't have to hear the girlfriend gripe about not being able to bring enough Hefe home
