Stumbled upon this article about a ghost whale tasting (I know what whales are bro, but had never heard of ghost wales). A great read indeed. Imagine getting all the rarest beers around from the past 20 years, putting them in one Denver basement, and drinking them all in one night. I had heard of the breweries sure, but never of any of these specific brews. After reading the article I wish that I had a time machine to snag bottles of them all at their birth.

Cool story. But I only hunt Alien Whales. Beers so rare no one else has ever seen them and the mere existence can't be verified.

I am not sure how much he has opened over the years, but several years ago, I was in Chris at Ebinezer's own personal cellar and he seemed to have beers on this scale. I don't recall exactly what we had down there, but everything had some story behind it. Not a whole night of drinking, as my gf and I were just passing through on a fall foliage drive and it was just the three of us. I could imagine him still having some ghost whales down there.

That or spend all the money you make on beer and live in a house that needs major renovations. Some "great" BA's do just that. Take a look at some "...haul" pics.

Let me rephrase... An absurdly rich BA where my hauls are pictured on pristine marble counter tops.

As a side note, this article made me laugh out loud numerous times. This just seems absolutely absurd, not to mention snobby.

    Be careful with those walez.

Melville taught us that they're often metaphors for something else.

To have the money, time, connections and inclination to travel down this road of acquisition and questionable status is a personal and odd pursuit. That beer people are gaining on snotty wine "collectors" really isn't a surprise. It's just human to gloat about material things.
