Possible bad trader

    I've tried to avoid having to get to this point, but I'm running out of options and need some help. I've traded with this guy before and had no issues. I asked him to be my proxy for some Upland beers and he said no problem. I sent him $ to pick up my beers and he said no problem. He confirmed pick up and so I thought I was ok.

    It's been 2 months since I first asked him to proxy and I still haven't gotten my beer. He messaged me a couple times saying he was having personal issues with his house. I wasn't in a hurry for the beers so I didn't mind letting him straighten out his issues. Until last week he finally said he would be sending the box of beers with some extras to "reward my patience". I still haven't gotten anything.

    I've PM'ed him a few times and haven't gotten anything back. I see his status and see him checking whatever pages, but no replies to my messages. I'm trying to avoid putting out his info because up to now he's been ok, but I've run out of options. It'd be one thing if he kept me up to date, but he's sporadic at best with messages.

    What should I do? I feel like he's taking advantage and may end up ripping me off. Should I just post his name and information to try and FINALLY get my beer?

    I'd post his username and let him respond here before posting his name and info (such as phone or address). However, this does seem very troubling from what you have said so far.

    A little sleuthing will lead you to a guy from Indiana he's traded with before who has twice received feedback about late/stressful trades. Since I'm not 100% sure that's the guy, I'll wait for OP to actually post the name.

    My personal rule of thumb, and that's all it is, is to tell the guy you're going to out him if you don't have any active tracking number within a set time. I am probably overly hesitant to out anyone on here, simply because a lot of really good BAs keep do-not-trade lists (I do as well), and it doesn't take much to get on mine. But, based upon what you've posted, this one smells.

    Thanks for everybody's feedback. I think I may go with jshuc's tip and send one last message with a "due date". I've been hesitant to out him because up until now he's been fine and I know he's going through whatever stuff he's going through. At the same time, I'm tired of waiting and just want my beers at this point.

    look at it this way, when you build relationships, then you have that person's number. I can't begin to tell you how many txt message chains I have going...you can always reach someone and ask if they can get something, or if they want something, etc.

    as for your issue here, I would send one more BM, link this thread and explain that you haven't outed him yet, but that you expect a reply & tracking # by [insert what you think is fair] - me personally I wouldn't give him beyond Monday the 22nd - or you plan to out him and leave negative feedback.

    The 9/22 deadline seems to liked, so I'll go with that date. Hopefully, I'll have some more positive news to report. Thanks again for all the help to everybody.

    This right here, just recently started communicating over text/calls with my trade partners. Has drastically improved trading relationships, and is the reason why I have a 3-4 box month long trade now with a great guy out in washington. Probably would have never known about all the other beer he can get, including 3-4 more cascade sour types, multiple firestone walker beers, and more.

    I don't like seeing this happening to people. Unfortunately, since you are in this position, I agree with everyone that another warning is more than fair. At that point this person would have been given an opportunity to save his/her reputation.

    Sorry for such a late update. The trader gave me his cell so we've been communicating more steadily. Hoping to have this resolved before the end of the week.
