New Beer Wednesday continues with...Austrian Trappist beer!

No, seriously. This is a first for me: Gregorious, a BSDA from Engelszell.

Engelszell is the smallest Trappist brewery by volume according to Wikipedia (St. Joseph's, in Spencer, MA, has no listed volume) - less than half that of Westvleteren. That would partly explain why I've never seen it before.

The beer? It has a beautiful, nut-brown body that passes light only at the edges. It has a head that, 20 minutes after pouring, is still firm and about a cm thick. It has a classic Quad aroma (strong and sweet, less spicy than a Dubbel). It's slightly sour on finish, but carries through quite well; I'd put it up there with the best American quads I've had, although that sourness easily pushes it away from Rochefort territory.

    Still, very, very enjoyable.

Enjoying this beer by candlelight (well, and computer monitors :flushed:) and with some relaxing, depressing Opeth. Seems perfect.

I've never heard of this brewery nor have I had any of their beers. The labeling on this one is just incredible and it caught my eye immediately. The beer poured a rich black color with very little head. The smell is definitely a familiar one: coffee, chocolate, toasted malts. The taste is very much the same. It's a very milky beer, and it's got a great toasted flavor. 3.7/5

First of several Founders fall releases that I'm looking forward to. As simple as this is, I could drink it everyday.

Yep, and I don't want to lead; more fun to sit back and watch the stupid shit go down, frustrating, but funny.
The best one today: Let's pull everything that is set up in the laminator that is already 5 days late and put a job in front of them that is late too. "Oh it's only 3 hours of run time what's the big deal?"
Um well Mr. Know-It-All Manager it's really 5 hours total with the change-over and still won't be done until tomorrow.
    Damn knuckle-heads.

Had the Sudachi the other day. Not having these side-by-side, it's hard to tell the difference of flavor. Both very refreshing.
    Happy hump day!

Brought a few beers back from Ohio that I picked up a couple days ago and I'm going to try and finish them tonight. I'm starting with this delicious brew.

Birthday #30-something. I have to work tomorrow, so I might limit it to one beer. So, I need to make it count...

32 ounces. Maybe, just might, go with a 2nd beer later. Time to eat far too much Chinese food.

At the bar/tasting room tried my first wet hop of the season, Country Boy's Wet Hop Willie APA. Decent stuff but not near the level of Deschutes's Hop Trip, IMO.

Then had some Founder's Dissenter. This stuff is so damn good.

Now watching a Can documentary on Youtube.
