Yes, given that today's a pretty big day here I was just wondering about everyone's favourite Scottish beer.

In the past I was always partial to Belhaven 80/ and Maclay 60/. Today its probably Tempest Old Parochial Barrel aged Imperial Scotch ale though I could easily argue for Cromarty AKA IPA. But there are others.

    Well?
    Alba gu brath.

Unfortunately haven't had many Scottish beers although I do enjoy scottish styles. (Scotch Ales mhmm) A friend of mine once brought me a bottle of some dark local beer from an island together with some whiskey which were both exquisite. I also liked Fraoch's Heather Ale (particularly good for Odin's Brew). Right now I also have a bottle of Belhaven's Stout in my stash but I still have to try it.

Do the Orkney's count as Scotland? If so, Skullsplitter is my choice. Otherwise, Belhaven Scottish Ale.

I just had BrewDog Punk IPA for the first time a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed it.

Different from any other IPA I've had (in a good way) and I appreciated the lower ABV.

I enjoyed drinking my way through Edinburgh's pubs about four years ago. Between Edinburgh and Newcastle I gained a true appreciation for real cask ale.

I've had quite a few great Scottish beers, but Orkney Skull Splitter gets my vote.

Whatever happens today, I love Scotland.

Fraoch Vintage Cask Collaberation No. 22 was pretty mindblowing,

Always dig Old Engine Oil and Traquair

I think my personal fav which I really dig is Ossian

Best of luck tonight, and some advice from someone who has been through multiple referendum/plebiscite separation issues...

it all works out in the end.

Would probably pick Jarl, but the Tempest beers I tried when i was last over were very solid.

Going to be watching the results tonight with bated breath.

Ola Dubh was real nice. Have had several nice Brew Dog IPA's as well. Of course there's always Skull Splitter.

Been too long.... Back in the late 90s I drank a ton of Deuchars IPA. But I understand from you and some others that it is now a shadow of its old self (when it was GBBF Champion Beer of Britain).

I normally get frustrated with the "x beer used to be so much better etc", but Deuchars really was awesome and now it's not worth it at all

Exciting indeed, my friend. Never had a Scottish beer. What would you recommend in a big stout?
