I have not had many beers from Scotland but so far the one I like the most is from The Eden Brewery (in St. Andrews). They have a few different series but the one I like is from their "Oakwood Series" it's the Bourbon Barrel

    http://edenbrewerystandrews.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=66&product_id=80

It's chocolately, some toffee, lightly roasted, and yummy!

Any country that makes a variety of fine alcoholic beverages is of obvious high intelligence :grinning:

I wish Scotland all the best on this important day in their history!!

Good to see you posting. Was thinking of you today. Exciting time to be alive. Wonderful nation. Loveable people. And one of the most magical places on the planet. Was there in 2012, and it was the experience of a lifetime. Pure Magic.

Went to Scotland on my honeymoon last year and found the Loch Ness Brewery. Only had RedNESS (an amber), and LochNESS (an 80/- Scottish Export) but both were very tasty.

Fun fact: that's how I chose my beeradvocate avatar.

Anything from Traquair. The House Ale and Jacobite are some of my favorites. Orkney Dark Island is another one, especially on cask at Prince or Wales or the Grill. Lets see, what else am I forgetting, oh yeah, Harviestoun Ola Dubh, Old Engine Oil, and Bitter & Twisted, again on cask.

Orkney Dark Island is my overall favorite beer from anywhere. Everybody always carries Skull Splitter so it's exciting to find Dark Island.

I usually have some Scottish beers available at any time. Surprised I don't have any Ola Dubh's right now. Anyway, found Saint Arnold DR 8, a Wee Heavy from 09 that is drinking really well right now. So I put that on ice for later. One of my favorite American made versions.

We don't really get the best of Scottish Ale over here unfortunately. When I do get to go, which isn't often, Deuchars IPA is pretty tasty from the cask.

I love Scotch Ales, Wee Heavy in particular is my favorite style. I just want to mention Kuhnhenn's A Few Shillings Too Many. I had a tasting about 6 months ago and the 2012 AFSTM took out everyone. Barrel Aged ones took the next four spots. If you haven't had it I would definitely recommend getting some. I also love Innis & Gunn offerings which is pretty cheap for the quality you get.

I just got back from our best local beer retailer with 2 4packs of "Belhaven Scottish Ale", 2 bottles of Twisted Thistle, and two bottles of Belhaven Scottish Stout. I will also be Skyping with my brother in Edinburgh as the results come in and having an internet beer with him.

Isle of Skye, wee Beast was a good one. the Olah Dubh and Traquair are good too. Bellhaven was always solid, just wish they'd get rid of the clear glass bottles.

Was just home for two weeks, and the referendum was certainly gripping the nation. Unfortunately, I think too many think it's too big a gamble and the NO will win it

Don't have any real favorites, do kinda dig Bellhaven, but hoping for the best tonight, so I will give the toast that my first wife's uncle Charlie gave at my wedding, after a few stiff ones, "To Sconny Botland!"

Ola dubh has a wonderful flavor and a mouthfeel like liquid silk. So Harviestoun. Orkney skull splitter is excellent. and for local, erie brewing's railbender.

In my opinion, Scotland is one of the seven greatest beer making nations (Belgium, Germany, U.S., England would be my top tier, followed by Scotland, Canada, and Holland). These are my favorites:

Traquair's House Ale and Jacobite Ale, Williams Brothers Beers (Alba Pine Ale, Fraoch Heather Ale, Grozet Gooseberry, etc.), Belhaven Wee Heavy, Orkney's wee heavy and strong bitter, and anything by Caledonian or Broughton.

Bottles from Traquair House are always welcome!
I had more than a few tasty cask ales on my trip to Scotland, but taking notes wasn't a priority, and the memory is a wee bit foggy.

use to love drinking Caledonian 80/- in cans over here, don't know why the Caley stopped exporting them and MacAndrews Scotch Ale, oh well, some breweries don't want to make money. But I'll always have a soft side for Belhaven Scottish with a single malt on the side, sometimes Aberlour 12 or Highland Park. Haven't been there since 1997, great country, great beer, great people, wish them the best whatever happens
