Door County is putting out some great stuff. I agree 100%...Polka King is top notch in my book!

Just got my hands on some in a trade, damn what an amazing beer! Porter has been such an under explored style.
Going to have to see if I can get more on the regular.
Anyone tried aging some? Want to throw a bottle or two in the cellar, but don't want to waste such a great beer

As a general rule low abv brews don't typically age well, they don't really hold up over time. Usually the only low abv brews that gain from aging are brett beers and those aged with various wild yeasts and souring bacteria (i.e. sours, lambics, gueuze). If you enjoy it that much don't waste it, drink what you have and savor them!! Cheers

We sell some in sixers at our store. It's the only beer I haven't tried (that I actually want to). Gonna have to get around to it sooner or later...

I am a big fan of it since we've been able to get it here in WI. Founders is great too IMO.

And by "Deschutes" you mean "Full Sail" or "Widmer", right?

Black Butte is my favorite basic Porter. Its just so easy drinking. For people who are new to crafts beer, and want to try a Porter, its my recommendation.

It's a classic and is still one of the best everyday drinking beers in the country. Everyone should drink more Black Butte, including me.

Name me a better Porter, Stout and Pale Ale that comes from Oregon that I can get in a six pack for under $10 in CA, than Black Butte, Obsidian, and Mirror Pond, thanks, I'll take your answer off the air.

This Jubelale I'm sipping on right now tastes like nothing I've ever had from Budweiser. Your comment is very narrowminded.

I rated this beer 4.25. I really liked it. The reason I got it was because I had a 1554 Black Lager from New Belgium Brewing and I rated it a 5. It was AWSOME! If you liked Black Butte Porter you will love the 1554.

Damn! It's only mid-September! I remember it came out super early last year too. Not many folks drank it when released, it was still nice out, and by the time we were ready for it, other beers had elbowed it off the taps.

I know your answer was tongue-in-cheek but to answer your question:
    • Caldera's porter and pale comes in can sixers and should be under 10 and available in Norcal I believe. Their pilot rock porter is better and one of my favorites.
It's hard to beat deschuttes for the price though.

As to the above fellow Oregonian who compared Deschuttes to AB - come on man. Yes Deschuttes does not represent Oregon beer on the whole, but I would rather lump Full Sail, Widmer, or Portland Brewing Company (aka McTarnahans) as the "Bud" of Oregon.

Deschuttes is the **Founders, Bells, Victory, Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada** of Oregon. Though I prefer Founders Porter over Black Butte. Damn that porter is amazing.

I actually agree with Caldera Pale being a bit better than Mirror Pond, I have not seen the Porter.
