My first and only time with a sour. Was up all night with heartburn. 100 tums couldn't fight that fire

Often, I have only done this with lambiek beers so not USA vinegar bombs. No issues.

Yes - but I have to be careful to do it with food or I'll suffer some heartburn.

I do that routinely with all bottle sizes of sours.

I split 1x750 Cantillon LPF and 1x750 Cantillon Gueuze with my girlfriend last night- no problems for either of us

That was the exact age that I started getting heartburn. Prior to that, I was of the same mindset as you. Didn't even know what heartburn could feel like. I will admit I don't have the best of diets so, if you have a good diet, you might not get it for a while or maybe even never depending on your body chemistry and genes.

Yeah...a somewhat similar beer caused me such bad heartburn eventually it all came out. I tried sharing a tart of darkness once with no takers. Eventually it came up after my stomach could no longer handle the acidity and the smell, taste and color of what came out turned me off that beer forever. The sour beer vomit is a horrible feeling and your teeth just feel weakened and your toungue can no longer differentiate taste.

That was the first sour I ever had and I enjoyed every sip down to the end of the bottle, all to myself.

Have had two La Folies to myself. I love it, so it wasn't bad. Had 750s of Boxer's Revenge and Love Child #4 to myself and those were a lot harder, just a lot of beer to drink in one sitting.

EDIT: Drank the Boxer's and LC on two separate occasions, not back to back.

OP, the answer is cheese and snacks. First full pour is all about the beer, second pour when you're starting to feel overwhelmed throw in some snacks to see how it tastes with food. You may find a great combo! Some cheese I try to keep on hand is a mild blue, aged English Cheddar, and some Humbolt Fog.

Awesome insight guys. Thanks for all the suggestions. Maybe it was just the day, because now that I think of it I killed a Lolita and a Juliet one night and it wasn't a problem. Some days beers just don't go down as well as others I guess.

After having solo downed Black Tuesday, Huna, Abraxas, BCBS variant bombers, etc...easy drinking/low abv sour 750s are a breeze.

I tried it with La Folie, but it turned my separator inside out.

Closest I've come is drinking a large bottle of Duchesse. My wife loves sours, so if a bottle is opened, it's a guarantee she'll drink at least half of it.

Even asking this question will get you mocked by the 5 DIPAs a night crowd on here. I'm with you though. Sours are intense and I feel are beat shared. Even splitting a NG Belgian Red with a friend became a chore in the last sip or two, but I wasn't as into sours back then as I am now. But I'm also of the mindset that good beer should always be shared and is best enjoyed with friends that will appreciate it the same way you do.

My wife hates sours and I don't have any friends who like them either so yes, all the time.

I do wish there were more sours in smaller format bottles, though. Sometimes it's difficult to finish 750mil of a sour, no matter how good it is.

Blessing in disguise. Sour beers are the only thing my wife consistently likes. Ever wound up with 100ml of Cascade when you were expecting 400? Or had Consecration go missing?
