Anyone know when the brewery shut down? I just bought a bottle pf Friar's Belgian-Style White Ale and I now see this beer is "retired", even though its under "current" beers and not "arch". Enclosed is the link. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/233
Ya talkin ta me all wrong.. Its the wrong tone.. Ya do it again.. I'll stab ya in the face widda soldering iron..
"What do you want me to say, that I'm sorry? That I apologize? Well, people in Hell want ice water, pal."
*hangs head* ...I'm not sure - I was positive it was a Walken quote when I posted it - and it fit so right after your post - but now, not only am I drawing a blank, but I can't confirm it online either... Hey, I know it wasn't from Joe Dirt! I embrace the fail and humbly accept any flames that come my way...
Who the hell am I to say anything bad? I'm the one with him in my avatar and I don't know where it's from
*whew* I love Walken, so felt pretty embarrassed... Hey, just by way of restoring your thread to its original purpose (since I'm the one that led it astray): the Sherwood Forest Website is still up (which is pretty meaningless in-and-of itself) but with no mention of a closing, and their MySpace page has been stagnant for about 4 years as well (last comment was 4 years ago, last blog and photo dated 2007), BUT their phone number (from their website) still works (I called after hours and got a voicemail). I sent an email to them, too, but even if they reply, it prolly won't be until after the weekend. If they're shut down, I'd assume it was 4 years ago. "At its best, life is completely unpredictable" (an actual quote attributed to Walken (not from a movie)).
Sherwood has posted on Facebook more recently than MySpace. I don't recall exactly, but it's within the past couple. Months. I do see their beer still on the shelves at one place I go, but I don't know how old they are. The beers frankly aren't that good, so I skip over them in any case.
Could you post a link? There's a Sherwood Brewing in Michigan that has a Facebook page, but the OP's brewery is Sherwood Forest Brewing in Massachusetts. I could be mistaken, but I couldn't find Sherwood Forest Brewing on Facebook.
They still produce, but sparingly I was told by Craft that they are on the ropes. I never really cared for anything they did, but liked the company because it started in my hometown (marlborough, MA)
I remember when I went to a bar that had a couple house brews, and I asked them who made it for them, they said Sherwood. Maybe it was the Eagle Brook Saloon in Norfolk I was at? So I figured it was just that kind for contract brewing that was keeping Sherwood alive by a hair.
I used to drink the archers ale when they sold it in cans and I thought it was delicious. Then they started bottling it and it sucked. Does that make sense? Maybe it was just my tastes changing.
There's this, but it's a personal page for Sherwood Forest Brewers, must be an owner or something. Not much to be seen unless he friends you, it would seem. http://www.facebook.com/Professorcheswick
