Inspired by a previous thread, I thought this would be an interesting topic.

As it gets colder I tend towards porters (especially of the java/mocha variety) or a good oatmeal stout like Samuel Smith's.

A friend recently tried O'Fallon Pumpkin Beer which he said tasted like pumpkin pie. He said it was nothing special. Anyone else know of a pumpkin beer that is good?

I drink all of the beer styles I like year round, but I do tend to drink more heavier beers in fall and winter. Lots of Stouts/Imp stout/RIS, barleywines, old ales, porters, but will continue to drink many IPA's/DIPA's as well.

I already have in the house.

    Victory Dirt Wolf
    DFH Pumpkin

I think I can live with those two

I think the question would be "what beer am I not drinking this fall"?

    That would be easier...

I just got a growler fill of Maltballs from Peekskill Brewery, will be enjoying that this weekend!

The Sierra Nevada Fall Pack is in my fridge for next weekend's fall BBQ

I am very excited for Boulevard's BBQ (Bourbon Barrel Quad), which comes out in October. Fuller's Breakfast Stout and KBS plus the Bourbon County Brand series from Goose Island are always a special treat. I am fortunate in that my family in Belgium will be sending me Westy 6, 8, 12; some great Cantillon's; and some old vintage bottles of Rodenbach. So, needless to say, this should be a great autumn for savoring some world class beers.

I drink any beer at anytime of year. Imperial Stout on the beach many times! Anyway, my new favorite that's recently hit and is on rotation in the fridge is Southern Tier's Double Rye. Freakin tremendous beer with a perfect price point. Also been drinking locally too. Jaillbreak Brewing here in MD has the Carrot Cake Conspiracy. I different and unique twist on the pumpkin craze. Love it.

If you are looking for a pumpkin brew that is not gimmicky junk, go Long trail imperial pumpkin! Left hand makes a great milk stout if you want to change it up and great divide make an oatmeal espresso stout that is off the chain. Founders breakfast is a great one (I'm sure you've had it)...... poke around man, the avenues are endless, especially if you go to a bottle shop,,, you know, where they sell beer by the bottle!

Thanks for the suggestions. I've had Founders and Left Hand but not Great Divide's Oatmeal Espresso Stout. I guess I'll have to pick it up for breakfast some morning....

Some of my favorite pumpkins are Cigar City Good Gourd, Schlafly Pumpkin and DFH Punkin. Southern Tier Pumpking was on this list but has fallen off IMO. Still worth having but not as memorable as it was two years ago.

Autumn's my favorite beer season, what with all the harvest ales and festbiers and what have you.

Also, I was pleased to notice that Pretty Things put out a new batch of their St. Botolph's Town brown ale after a long stretch in which I didn't see any at all. I guess they've turned it into a seasonal and, if so, they chose the right season. I'll be enjoying one this evening.

I've heard Pinchy Jeek Barl Bourbon Barrel Aged Pumpkin Ale is pretty good, but I'm not really into pumpkin beer. I am waiting for Velvet Merlin to be released and will be drinking plenty of it! I know it's not pumpkin but the thread's title is "What beer will you be drinking this fall?" Velvet Merlin!

Thanks to @blue-dream I've got 5 gallons of BCBS on tap that I'll be savoring through the winter....if it lasts that long.

Besides that I'll be really exploring the world of barleywines.
They have become probably my favorite style and have yet to try a mind blowing one.

Pumking, Dogfish Head Punkin, Fegley's Devious Imperial Pumpkin, Weyerbacher Winter Ale, Weyerbacher Tiny, SA Fat Jack, Mad Elf, miscellaneous SA winter-type brews (it all depends on what I get at work)... and whatever miscellaneous tasty-sounding brews I find at the local bottle shop.
