just had my first Gose and it was from WestBrook. Needless to say I'm hooked and I want more. Need some reccomendations. I'm a huge hop head, so, this was a very interesting and eye opening beer for me.

    Cheers.

If you can get a chance, try some of the benchmarks for the style from Germany such as Leipziger and Ritterguts, otherwise this style has been booming among brewers and there are many out there now to try that you can find, try em all!

Leipziger on tap is a tough one to beat. I personally prefer the traditional ones, but it's great that other breweries outside of Germany are making Goses now.

well and partially because I told them to :grinning:

Definitely agree with Vogt52, and the fact that it comes in a 6 pack of cans ($10 or $11) makes it a great option for us consumers economically.

The Stillwater/Westbrook collab Gose Gone Wild has been my favorite so far, but I'm sure it is quite a lot higher in price than the Anderson Valley Kimmie, the Yink, and the Holy Gose (not sure of the price because I received it as a gift, but Stillwater stuff is usually REALLY high). Gose Gone Wild was definitely hop forward and one of the most interesting brews I have ever had. Try that one if you see it.

Almanac golden gate gose was tasty. Just had my first westbrook and was pretty disappointed. Cream corn in a can.

Me too. Westbrook was awesome don't get me wrong but it's not one I would drink more than one of in a sitting. Anderson Valley's is perfect for me.

Gose gone Wild may not be tradtional but it sure is good. Funky deliciousness. Rapp Gose is pretty damn good.

Ritterguts is the best I've had, more complex in flavor. Freigeist makes a nice one with spruce. Anderson Valley was in my fridge most of the summer.

Thanks guys! I searched high and low for hours the day Gose Gone Wild was released and it was all gone in one day. Visited 12 shops I think. I saw the Anderson Valley The Kimmie The Yink and The Holy Gose last night actually. I'm hesitant, because I've had a lot from them and Ive literally never enjoyed anything they've made, but I'll give it a whirl.

It's sort of an interesting style to talk about, because there are traditional ones that are good, then there are others that don't really taste traditional, but have the requisite "tart wheat beer with salt" characteristic that is so distinctive to the Gose style.

I have to echo @smakawhat when it comes to the traditional styles. I personally prefer the Ritterguts, but Leipziger is fantastic as well. A nice tall glass of Leipziger with a hearty bowl of chili just can't be beat.

And if you want to get into style bending, the aforementioned Gose Gone Wild is just an amazingly wacky and delicious take. Boulevard's Hibiscus Gose is also a bit boundary-pushing, but in a wholly different way than GGW. It has nice floral overtone that really blends well with the salt and acidity.

And Anderson Valley is a pretty regular go-to, because it's good, readily available and comes in cans. Whenever I'm at the store creating a mixer sixer, it's hard not to toss a can or two of that stuff in there as a failsafe. I like Westbrook as well, but it's not quite good enough to go through the hassle of having to trade for it.

EDIT: Just saw your last post OP--definitely give Anderson Valley a try. That beer might be the best one they make.

Recently tried Gose for the first time and loved it. Westbrook is great, Wish I could get it more often. Was at Voodoo in Meadville, PA and their Gose was the best I've had.

Leipziger, Ritterguts, Ohne Bedenken (although I only had this in Germany and have never seen it in the U.S). I have yet to have a U.S. made Gose that can even compete with most German ones.

Troublesome, by Off Color, is phenomenal—though I've had only American attempts at the style.

This is from Stillwater Brewing. I've had it once at an event here in Asheville. Amazing, was my 2nd favorite Sour type beer (I know it is a gose a bit different) at that event, only behind the terrific Apricot Sour from Cascade Brewing.
