PumpKYn, Rumpkin, Black Eye, then Tweak... plus all of their other stellar releases this year. My entire cellar is almost all Avery bottles at this point. It's going to be a good winter.

You're forgetting #23... Should be inbetween Black Eye and Tweak. Person at Avery said late October.

So how do bottle shares work up at Avery? Those of you that have done it, what time do you get there, do you share with your Avery server, any other things to know?

I was wondering this myself. I am planning on coming up for Black Eye and this will be my first Avery release. Should I plan for an epic share a la Zwanze, a run of the mill beer geek share, or just rely on all the great stuff Adam pulls out from the cellar (which from what he told me at the DRBT will be substantial)?

I think I might actually go up for this one. While rum barrel beers are usually a bit hot for me, I've enjoyed their rum stouts in the past.

This will be one of the only ones I'll miss but bottle shares usually break out outside (they drag tables and chairs out front). I haven't participated in any random awesomeness, but I see it happening a lot; usually I just come for the big rare Avery stuff on tap.

You also almost always don't have to worry about coming early unless you want a sure-shot at something rare on tap. The really good stuff will go in the first hour or two, but bottles never run out.

Happen to be in Boulder this weekend. Pardon my ignorance but are Avery bottle releases epic shit shows or what?

With how many cases they have been making for each of the last few releases the lines haven't been too long, there is great beers to enjoy in those lines, smaller bottle shares, but a good time had by all. Great beers and good people, hard to beat that. Avery has figured out how to do a bottle release correctly!

I will also be town next week. I have a few questions. Can you buy bottles to go at the brewery? Will this last at the brewery a few days? Will this be distributed to stores? Also will rumpkin and pumpkyn still be available? Thanks

The releases have not been bad at all the last year or so. Seems most everything has hit distribution too. I think it has to do with slight price increases as well as seems like they are really rolling some shit out by the loads. New beer every few weeks, maybe not the truth but my wallet seems to think so. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but seems once the release date passes, even the next day the rest is out to distribution. At least I've never heard of anyone rolling in the next morning and picking some up.

Generally the bottles are not sold after the release day at the brewery. The bottles are sold to-go. I don't think I've ever seen the special release beer also on tap that same day unless it was a different vintage.
During the Rumpkin release they were still selling Pump[KY]n bottles from their cold case for the same price. But that's the first time I've seen a previous release available for sale at the following one.
It'll most likely hit stores, sometimes not for another 2 weeks. But usually in small supply and at a higher cost.

So to be sure you get it and as many as you want (or limits allow), make it to the release. With the beers they break out for the line party, it's hard to go wrong.

Thanks for the info. We are suppose to go to Colorado springs on Monday, and end up in boulder on thursday, so I hope it'll be distributed by then. Or Im going to have to talk the gf into going to boulder on monday. What time do the releases start? Is it a couple hour event, or can you zip in and out?

If I was a betting man, you'll only be able to buy Black Eye on Sunday at the brewery. I think bottle count for it was about 1/3 the bottle count for PumpKYn. Release starts at 1PM, 'special beers' start pouring at 11AM, and it's not so much a bottle share as it is a few guys in line opening up a few bottles discreetly. You might as well drink the special shit on tap. You can basically pick up your max anytime during the day Sunday after 1PM. By about 1:30-2, there isn't much of a line. True story: Avery does bottle releases better than anyone.

What was the bottle limit on PumpKYn? I know many lately have been a case and this beer it is 12. Also when is the last time Avery sold out of any bottle at the release? I believe it was one of their sours but a long time ago.

No bottle limit on PumpKYn. I honestly don't think they've sold out ON a Sunday, but I could be wrong...a sour sounds right to my memory.

That was only 70 cases too wasn't it? Most releases that have been 200+ haven't sold out and typically a small amount hits stores locally. I think I figured most releases there's enough people that show up that they typically sell between 100-120 cases.

At 424 cases and 12 bottle limit, they won't sell out.
