I have a bunch of vacation to burn by the end of the year. I am currently off Saturday Nov 8th and back in work on Tuesday Nov 18th. I also have another week from Saturday Nov 29th and back to work on Tuesday Dec 9th.

Looking to do a beer vacation one of those two weeks. Either driving or flying from Philly. Any suggestions?

MI is always a good choice. Bell's, Founders, Dark Horse, Short's, Jolly Pumpkin, and several other great smaller breweries can all be hit in a short amount of time

Go to San Diego, never been but you couldn't go wrong with what is there

Minnesota. The weather is lovely (okay, I'm fibbing a bit here) and you can tour Summit, Indeed, Finnegan's, Bent, Flat Earth and Dangerous Man without leaving the inner ring of the metro. Going further afield you can hit Cold Springs/Third Street/John Henry, Lucid, Schell's (2nd oldest family owned brewery in the US), Surly, Brau Bros., Bent Paddle, Lift Bridge and others. And these are just the ones who package.

I'll second San Diego. You've got 10 days, make 'em count!

Personally, I would hit the Portland/Bend area or if you're looking for a warmer climate, hit San Diego.

Waterbury, VT the epicenter of Vermont beer culture...close enough to HF for a morning stop, and you'll still have enough time to explore Burlington and the surrounding environs.

Munson, ID - 3Floyds is the 4th dimension of craft beer...close to Chicago, could make a nice loop through Indianapolis, and Michigan...

Tour western Michigan before the snow flies. There are at least 20 breweries that are very worthy of a visit.

If you do not mind cold dreary weather ( the better to drink stouts) I would do a big circle. Head up to the Hudson valley for a few small breweries. Hit Ommegang sp? next. Then head over to Vermont. If you have time hit Maine then through mass & Boston.

If you want weather and can spend more San Diego like Beerhunter suggested would be heaven.

Fly into Detroit. Do Kuhnhenn, Jolly Pumpkin, Dark Horse, Arcadia, Bell's, New Holland, Vivant, and Founders and if time allows continue back southwest and head to 3 Floyds

No recommendations on places; others have and will take care of that. But if you have two 10 day time periods, do one "local" drive [250-300 mile radius from home] and one flight out to the West Coast [CA, WA, OR].

Since you may enjoy some warmer weather come November, come to Southeast Florida. Due South, Saltwater Brewery, Funky Buddha and a few Miami (Wynwood neighborhood) places all within 1 1/2 hours of each other.

If you can stand some rain: Vancouver BC-Bellingham-Seattle-PDX-Hood River-Bend. There are tons of permutations that can be done. If you decide to come to the PNW, post in the NW forum and we'll give some detailed answers.

A trip to Michigan can be a lot of fun, but chances are the weather isn't going to be great during your vacation.

Asheville, NC is a good destination, that should be slightly better weather-wise than the Great Lake State. (there's good stuff to check out in the rest of the state, too.

San Diego would hit the dual purpose of good, vaca-weather along with good beer. (haven't made the trip, yet)

It really depends on what other interests you have, because while not everywhere in the world is a beer destination, most places worth visiting have at least some good beer.

I would do this for one trip and then some place warmer.

i would never plan a vacation that starts with "Fly into Detroit. .."
