I'm too lazy to check back but does SN usually include 2 of their regular lineup beers in these types of packs?
The only ones I'm curious about are the IPA and the Coffee Stout. There is a place near me that splits these types of packs up into singles if they don't sell out and with 2 of the beers being part of the regular lineup, maybe I can convince them to sell me just the IPA & the Coffee Stout.

Changed my mind. I'm going to check about previous SN sampler packs.

Can't wait for this one. These Sierra Nevada packs are awesome. I don't mind the Pale Ale but I hope it is not in every pack going forward. It was not in the IPA pack only in the Fall and now Winter.

We like to include Pale Ale in variety packs for several reasons: A.) we love it, it's the beer that keeps the lights on, and frankly, it deserves a place in every pack. B.) Variety Packs are a great gateway for people new to craft beer because they offer several different beers to try in one carton. It's just those people who may not have ever tried Pale Ale before, or looked past it because it's not necessarily hip or new.
As I've mentioned before, Pale Ale makes all of the other stuff we do possible, after all these years, we're still crazy proud of it and we like to introduce it to new folks all the time, or maybe reintroduce it to people who may have forgotten. With a new brewery opening every day and literally thousands of new beers every year, it's easy to lose sight of the good in favor of the new.

We actually have several large-scale lagers coming out soon, and frankly, don't have the capacity at the moment to take on another, so Doppelbock was out of the question. The Boomerang was a recipe we played with in our Pilot brewery earlier this year as we were testing some Aussie hops and really liked the way it came out. We thought it'd be a nice contrast to the malty selections in the pack. No reason for it (seasonally speaking, I mean) other than it tasted good to us at the time, and we thought we share it with others.

I'm guessing the majority of the sales of these packs is not from beer geeks, but casual beer drinkers. I know mix packs like these are a staple at my family get togethers and this will definitely be at Thanksgiving this year. In that regard, I don't mind having SN Pale Ale, especially since it's always fresh in these packs.

Thanks for the response. I understand where you're coming from and certainly appreciate that. It's always nice to dance with the girl that got you there. But in regards to your last statement, whose to say the new isn't the good? There's plenty of room for good. The pale ale, the Celebration, the Torpedo, and whatever comes after it. I guess for people that already know your Pale Ale is good, and are looking forward to trying your new stuff, we see it as less Boomerang and Coffee Stout and more Porter and Pale Ale we can get on its own if we want it. And for people you're targeting, it's "Hey, after the Coffee Stout and Boomerang are gone, remember we still have the Pale Ale and Porter." Basically, I want more Boomerange and Coffee Stout. :stuck_out_tongue: I drink your Pale Ale the rest of the year over. I want the new shit. At any rate, I take this stuff however I can get it. I love SN's beer, and I'll be buying it on an ongoing basis.

Of course you're proud of SNPA, it's an effing American classic! At least in the variety pack I know it's relatively fresh.

SN never did mix packs (besides Beer Camp) until recently. The IPA and Fall mix packs were the first, as far as I'm aware, within the past ten or so years.

I am wondering what the distribution for this will be in the Daytona Beach, FL area. Here we got the Beer Camp pack, but the Fall Pack has been nowhere to be found.

    @sierranevadabill,
Will the coffee stout be available on draft at all or just bottles via variety pack?

I'm actually excited for the IPA, it sounds quite interesting. While I have you, PLEASE PUT VIENNA LAGER IN 6 and 12 PACKS!! Personally, aside from Celebration, that is my favorite beer you make now. I can't get enough of it. Cheers and thanks for all that you do!

Correct. I got unlazy and checked. And it looks like there was only one regular lineup beer and 3 'special' beers in the IPA and Fall packs.

Hey Bill.... I Love the pack, even though I am more of a Torpedo person than an Pale Ale person ( however SNPA was a gate way beer for me way back). Never the less, I am looking forward to the SnowPack..... what are the ABVs on the Coffee Stout and Boomerang IPA?

I have to say and I may be the only one but I like that they throw in the pale ale. Its not something I pick up a sixer of anymore so it is nice to revisit in these mixed 12. I know I will enjoy the IPA but I have to agree a doppelbock would have been awesome.

A lot of people here have been saying they don't want Pale Ale included in the pack. Well, I'm not one of them. Like Boston Lager in the Sam Adams pack, Pale Ale is a beer I don't typically buy on its own anymore and yet I'm 100% certain I know I'll enjoy drinking it. So I'm damn glad to revisit Pale Ale anytime Sierra Nevada puts it in a variety pack.

I'm with you guys- you can't go wrong killing multiple birds with one stone.
I recently had a SNPA from the Fall Pack, first beer of the night so it was on a clean palate, and it hit me just right. I couldn't imagine a more perfect beer for right then. It definitely wouldn't have happened, either, if I had to choose between the Pack and the SNPA (which is kind of how things go these days).

    No Celebration? Duh fuq?

How do they make a winter sampler pack without their best winter beer (in my opinion, their best beer period)?
