How can it be sold in Colorado if surly isn't distributed there?

Isn't their big beer festivle coming up soon? Maybe related to that?

You also have to remember that not all states have as many of the dumb laws we do. Surly has done tap take overs in Wisconsin, Iowa and other states before beer festival. I am willing to bet it has to do with those states allowing self distribute from breweries from outside of the state.

That is why you only see breweries that distribute to MN at our beer fests.

Yes, the Great American Beer Festival starts in Denver today so I'm sure that is why 8 is making an appearance there. You are also correct that MN requires that only beer distributed in MN is allowed at MN beer festivals.

You do know Pentagram exists as a seasonal, right?

Pentagram and Five are not the same beer...exactly...one of them is blended, I can't recall which at the moment

Pretty sure both are blended. There was a beer called Pentagram before Five came out that was unblended though. While I agree they aren't exactly the same, if he/she is hoping for a beer like Five then I think that's truly the closest that they're ever going to get out of Surly.

The Pentagram that existed before Five was unblended. I would be surprised if the bottled Pentagram is unblended.

Why are we arguing about 5/pentagram when we should be wishing that 4 would come back into our lives

If you cuvée Terrapin Moo-Hoo and Wake n' Bake, you basically end up with Surly Four (at least the closest thing I can imagine finding).

So when does the Surly Eight come out in bombers? Or have I completely missed the bus?

Before somebody makes the stupid & obvious "joke" I'd say no, you haven't missed the bus. Nobody really knows, but since they had 8 at ABR & a cask at the taproom last week, & it's already bottled, it should be fairly soon.

Does Surly tap much else other than their anniversary beer at these events?

Normally they have a few of their 'non-regulars'. They will probably post details soon (now that d-day is over).
