I can only drink so much Pumpkin beer, I usually only drink the Pumking in September/Early October then I'm shot for the season. One 12 pack of those does it for me

Pumking is my favorite, but it does suck that you can only get it in a 22oz bottle at the store. Had a DFH Punkin on draft yesterday and it was delicious. May be my new go-to considering it's a 4 pack

I feel ya. That's what usually happens to me, but for some reason, I can drink Night Owl more often and not get bogged down by it.

New to BeerAdvocate, hello everyone! I just tried a Griffin Claw Screamin' Pumpkin Ale this past weekend and it was really good.

Sept 6 is the official beginning of my pumpkin beer season when Iron Hill Maple Shade welcomes the Great Pumpkin!

Up to now I've been stockpiling and keeping an eye out for pumpkins I haven't had or really like. This is my stockpile so far:

    Schlafly
    Elysian Night Owl
    Weyerbacher
    Southern Tier Warlock
    Southern Tier Pumking
    Blue Mountain Spooky
    Lancaster Baked Pumpkin

    On the hunt for:

    Alewerks
    Whole Hog
    Terrapin Pumpkin Pie Porter
    Horseheads
    Good Gourd
    Rogue

There are others I will buy that I like but that's my most wanted list. Also this year I plan to rate each pumpkin I consume in a custom review book I created. Here's the cover for the book:

    Yes, I love pumpkin beers.

That cover is full of so much win. I did the same thing last year and rated 44 pumpkin beers on a google spreadsheet with my buddy. If you want the link message me and I can add you to the doc.

I havent read the rest of the thread here but the reason for me is this. The pumpkin flavor and the beer flavor aren't even close to meshing together, you get a bunch of pumpkin and then it just tastes like a bud light after that, its crazy thin and there is no complexity to the beer, IMO it tastes like a BMC light lager with pumpkin pie spices in it.

Schlafly is phenomenal; I am pretty sure it beats out Pumking this year. Warlock is an excellent stout. I've been trying to locate some other pumpkin ales with great feedback, but not always so easy to procure.

So far its Epic/DC Brau Fermentation without representation imperial pumpkin porter. But I have like 6 different ones in my fridge to try still. Waiting for the weather to cool down more. NB Pimlico and DFH punkin are pretty good too.

I have a bottle of Brew Rebellion Grandmas suftins pumpkin pie that sounds like it will be good. And or course some Warlock from a recent trade that I can't wait to try. 95 degrees is not pumpkin beer weather yet.

Hard to say one in particular, however the Stevens Point Whole Hog has to be up there. Admittedly I'm a bit disenfranchised with Southern Tier Pumpking becoming a bit over-saturated in the market, but it is still a great beer! Also the varieties from Elysian - Night Owl and The Great Pumpkin are outstanding. I'd lean toward the latter in a head to head race, but that's like choosing a BMW 7 series over a 3 series, you get what you pay for!

DFH Punkin is really solid. For pumpkin stouts, I say Harpoon Imperial Pumpkin is awesome and at $5.49 will choose that over ST Warlock every day of the week!

Schlafly, no contest. Haven't had Good Gourd though.
