What are general thoughts on this brewery? Their product just showed up in my area. I looked at some reviews....err ratings but with hardly anyone putting comments in anymore and just ratings I am left wondering.

Any overall thoughts on their product and any beers that I should look for?

Their lineup was pretty bad for a long time, but they did just change several recipes. The new lineup is drinkable, nothing outstanding but worth trying in my opinion.

The double ipa isn't bad. There's some others that are decent.

We appreciate they set up a brewery....and in Illinois is even better. We appreciate they are making something at least slightly better than your Budweiser/Miller-Coors..

    Beyond that....meh.

Got a really, really bad 4 pack of Threadless. I contacted them and they sent me a fresh 4 pack of Threadless and another 4 pack of the Double IPA, which was pretty good. Threadless just isn't my type of IPA I enjoy, but it was well made.

I've only had their Secret Stache Stout and really enjoyed it. It's made with vanilla and I really enjoy anything vanilla. At 5.3% is somewhat sessionable but still very medium bodied.

The Vanilla Stache Stout is a good brew and I would get it again. I'm looking to try their Chimera DIPA but we don't get distribution in NYC.

This is a classic case of a brewery putting stuff in the marketplace that is not very good, and then having to overcome that among their customer base. My first beers from this brewery were less than average quality/taste and I gave up on them and haven't purchased another beer since 3-4 years ago. This thread gives me hope of trying them again.

    1. "Marketing Guru" sees that he can make money with a brewery, thinks he can do it by using his social media skills.

    2. Makes lackluster beer, no one cares. Starts distributing everywhere anyways.

Hardcore Chimera is the first beer from them that I truly enjoy and have purchased multiple times.

Secret Stache is pretty good - can't say I care for the other canned offerings I've had, though.

Ever since I took a tour of Finch's a few years ago, I've lost all respect for them and their beer (not that I really liked their beer to begin with). One of the owners gave the tour basically drunk, and the way he spoke about their brewing and beer gave everyone the impression that they don't take it seriously and have an "I could care less" attitude.

I took that tour not long after the Half Acre tour. Talk about polar opposites...

I was speaking more of the behavior, not of the person or even this post. But if you've been a member since 2001, you think you've have seen the 400 posts flaming Finch's. I didn't mean to besmirch the OP, I just get bummed they constantly get flamed on here (and while I agree with some points lots of you make, when the brewers are allowed to flex outside the base ones they make in cans, the results have been pretty decent).

oh and its finch's right, not finches?
