I live about 20 miles from the Captain Lawrence brewery and although I have always enjoyed their beers, I tend to overlook and underappreciate their quality because I see it all over the place, more so since they expanded. When the wife and I went out to a new [for us anyway] eating establishment with a limited craft draft selection, I chose the Captain's Reserve. Wow. I had forgotten how good it was. It's probably a good thing I don't live in SoCal since I would probably overlook and underappreciate some of those beers as well. So, if anyone else has had the same experience, let me know. Underappreciation loves company.

Yes I have. It was also on the draft list but I enjoyed the first Captain's reserve so much I had another.

I really enjoyed some Arcadia Loch Down Scoth Ale. Thought it was better than Founders Dirty Bastard Scoth Ale, although BA ratings don't agree.

Alaskan, their IPA, Pale Ale, Oatmeal Stout, White, are all really good, but they don't make a barrel aged or hyped beer, so they don't get mentioned a whole lot.

Alaskan also has a rather underwhelming flagship that is the token "micro" at many restaurants with shitty beer selections. You make that the first impression of your brewery and you tend to get ignored by craft enthusiasts.

I rarely see some of the Weyerbacher beers mentioned, all of which I love (Blithering Idiot, Insanity, Double Simcoe, Quad and the list goes on). Very underated brewery IMO.

For a while I continued to overlook Victory Brewing because they are always on the shelves here in MA. and I had most of their line-up early on in my craft beer exploration. Only until recently have I been reminded on how good some of their offerings are. Fresh "Hop Devil" is a new stand-by in my fridge.

Most of Bell's regular lineup is pretty solid, but the one beer I don't see get any mention is the Porter, which is very nice and only a notch or two below Founders' Porter in my book.

Smuttynose. Kind of gotten drowned out for me with all these new offerings popping up this way and that. Had a Big A IPA the other day and forgot how tasty their brews are.

Double Simcoe has to be my favorite "east coast" style DIPA. So damn good when fresh, and thankfully it seems to hold up better than a lot of other IPA's that fade after a couple weeks.

I constantly overlook Southern Star Buried Hatchet when I'm at the store. It's always on the shelf but damn is it a good Stout. Same thing with Maui Coconut Porter. I bought that for a while when it was first sent to TX but haven't touched it in many months.
