Schwarzbiers, doppelbocks, viennas, dark bocks, rauchbiers, marzens etc.

Lagers are a big part of any season for me.

Yeah Why not, I drink any style at any time of the year but I do tend to drink more stouts and barley wines during fall and winter.

It's out -- a seasonal fave. Have 1 last bottle from the 4 pack I picked up a couple weeks back... now to pick the best time to savor.

To me, a lager in autumn is just as welcome as a stout in the spring.

Tried a bunch of Oktoberfests over the past few weeks. Top 4 IMHO:
    Leinenkugel's Big Eddy Uber Oktoberfest
    Lefthand Oktoberfest
    Great Lakes Oktoberfest
    Ayinger Oktoberfest

A Czech or German Pilsner is likely to be in my fridge on any given day during the calendar year.

    Oktoberfests were made for autumn.

For me, the two Oktoberfest/Marzens that stand out above all others are Great Lakes and Hooker.

Thirsty Dog Barktoberfest would get the bronze if I were so motivated to pick a top three.

Well, Dogfish was supposed to put out an Imperial Lager ( I never heard of an imperial lagger until then) with the Replacements for the anniversary of "Let It Be". I thought it was supposed to come out in September, but i have not seen or head anything about this. And I was looking forward to it because Dogfish Head does amazing Pilsners on the occasson that they make them. Does anyone know anything about this?

Nope, I hate them, ESPECIALLY during autumn.

That's why I drank a local Marzen, Schlenkerla's Helles, and then Boston Lager with the Patriots game last night.

Seriously though, they're awesome in the fall. I also had Schlenkerla's Rauchbier Marzen on tap Saturday night. Which might be the perfect fall beer being an excellent blend of a Marzen and a Rauchbier by the masters of smoked beers.

Aecht Schlenkerla Helles, Rauchbier Marzen, Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest, Spaten Lager and Optimator, Weihenstephan Original, Kulmbacher EKU Pils, Hell, there are so many and they're good anytime. These beers are easy natural choices that people really love. Spread the word again!

I believe Jack's Abby distributes to NY now? They make all lagers and they're all solid. Try their schwarzbier, doppelbock or Baltic Porter for something nice on a cold night.

I happen to think that it's the perfect brew for any time of year, but I agree.

    I'm partial to Victory's Festbier

German dunkels (and dunkelweizens) are pretty good in the autumn/winter, IMO. Vienna lagers, Oktoberfests, and various red lagers are also quite tasty. Overall, one of my favorite lagers to drink in the autumn, winter, and even the first part of chilly wet spring are schwarzbiers. Although I do have a tendency to drink more schwarzbiers in the crisp autumn/cold winter months.
