Food: Travail (no reservations, no menu, 10 course $130 meal for two). Pig Ate My Pizza or The Rookery are by the same guys and cheaper/have menu/still delicious. These are all 5-10 minutes from the brewery. You can get to a lot of places in 20-30 min but I would still pick these.
pinball: http://pinballmap.com/twincities# the Brunswick Zone in Brooklyn Park may be your best bet for near the brewery (machines listed on the website)

Always one of my favorite weekends of the year. Is the blind BIF happening again?

I've never stayed in any of them but there are a bunch of hotels near 100 and 694. You're not planning to camp out? My buddies have a tent that has plenty of room.

Within 20-30 minutes for food basically puts you in Minneapolis, so you've got a lot of options. What kind of food you after? I always recommend Butcher and the Boar and Bar La Grassa, but there are so many other places. I've heard good things about Pig Ate My Pizza too.

Can't help you on pinball although I love to play it.

I don't know if that Brunswick zone is still doing it, but they used to have a $10 "fee" to get in if you were under 30 to try to keep the riff raff out. You got a $10 voucher, but it was a hassle. I also always found it funny that they had a few parking spots for cops. But with the apartment complex getting ripped down near there that seemed to house or draw in a lot of trouble being gone, I think the area has improved slightly, but I would still consider it kind of sketchy area.

I live about 1 mile away. The area isn't really that bad. And there is a police station across the street from there. I haven't been in there in years. But I do hear they do a good job keeping riff raff out.

Ok fair enough, you know the area much better than I do now. I grew up in the area and my parents still live there, it does seem that BP is trying to cleanup and revive the area, but it still wouldn't be my first choice. The police station is probably there mostly due to the old Centry Court apartments, was happy to see when they ripped them down, that seemed to be the hotbed for the riff raff.

Is Blondies still open, or did that finally get shut down?

I'm camping out Friday night. Need a hotel for Saturday night to sleep off the previous two days of drinking before
    Driving back to Michigan.

Travail has ridiculously good food, and is a unique experience. It's not cheap, but it's amazing.

That's a really long drive I made years ago. My advice is to buy a winter jacket/hat/gloves and have fun.

Alright dudes. What's the word on Surly 8? Will it be avail during Darkness? At least hoping for draft. Bottles would be a bonus.

question on bottle share etiquette . . . would a case or two of Zombie and other FFF / Chicago goodies be acceptable or do I need to offer up limited release to partake?

Anything not available in MN would be welcomed IMO. I was a noob last year and didn't have much of a cellar. People were more than willing to share what they had.

These are plenty good! People are super generous and anything out of MN distro is always a hit. I will be there and happy to share what I'm bringing with you.

    Cheers!

Thanks guys. Not like I'm trying to skip out on bringing some limited things, just don't have a cellar that allows for a cooler of "whalez". Figured I could bring a few limited and supplement with quantity of quality Chicago "shelf".

You'd be surprised by the amount of "normal" beers that are exciting just because you can't get them here. There's a lot more to this thing than whalez!
