I did a forum search and didn’t see anything, so thought I would post. I was in Green Bay this week and stopped by Title Town. They are almost down building a production brewery across the parking lot from the brewpub. It is a retro fitted older building and has a huge lit-up Title Town sign that runs up the smoke stack. The brewery will have a tap room and is scheduled to open 10/11/14. They will start with bottles of their IPA, Red & the Golden. The brewpub will continue to brew beers through at least the end of the year and at some point they will transfer all production from the old depot to the new facility. The restaurant and bar operations will continue as before (thankfully!). So it looks like you will be able to buy their beers across the state.
I grew up in Green Bay and I stop in there almost every time I'm back visiting my parents. They're making some really good beer and it feels like they're doing it under the radar. Can't wait for bottles in the Madison area!
Great to see Titletown getting bottled as I don't get up the way often enough and hope they do well. Karben4 and Brenner should be on shelves soon giving us plenty of Wisconsin craft beer options on the shelves. I love the variety but the shelves at Woodman's are already overflowing with beer and pretty soon I think the market will hit a saturation point and we might start losing some breweries.
I don't think we're anywhere near the saturation point. Shops will find shelf space for the new breweries. Craft beer still has almost limit-less potential in Wisconsin.
I had my wedding rehearsal dinner there in 2004, and always stop over when I am in town. I thought there beer were becoming rather plain and unimaginative. I really hope this changes with the new facility.
I was just there this summer. their beers still seem to range from decent to underwhelming. I just cannot see these beers selling with all of the better options out there.
I don't that is unique to Titletown. If a brewery goes to market with a red, a stout, and an IPA, they better be pretty special or they will collect dust. Titletown needs to bottle something special to get market attention.
Their Dark Helmet is just as good as Black Bavarian... Other beers are fine but not too special given other options
Dark Helmet is the only one that's any good, i think. some of their one-offs have been OK but they all more or less taste the same to me. no matter what style there's some underlying base flavor that i get in every beer.
I enjoyed their sour Brown, Ned Flanders and last weekend I tried their pale gratzer which was fine but I probably wouldn't order again. Everyone else I went with really enjoyed the abbey dubbel on tap right now
had the Ned Flanders when it was on.. that was one of the better ones but it still had that same underlying flavor that i get in all their beers.
They had the dark helmet on cask with raspberries. I had a sample, it was pretty solid. They also had the gold on cask with rosemary (I think that was the herb). I didnt try that one.
Understated, solid beer, and very tasty food. I'm sure the bottles will be great but this is a fantastic place to stop if you're up in GB.
