Id like to pose this question to all the BA's out there that wake up with a nice Breakfast stout or what have you...
When deciding to have a beer for breakfast, how does the rest of your day usually proceed. Is it a drinking all day type of deal now, is it 1 and done and moving on to the gym? golf?

Whats your mindset when cracking that Founders breakfast stout, for breakfast.. Because I know that when I open a beer im usually in relax mode for the rest of the day and everything else is out the window.

I'm not sure you're supposed to take the name "Breakfast Stout" literally, are you?

I hope I never get to the point where I drink a beer with/for breakfast. I imagine just one though wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, especially since beer is rich in vitamin B. For me personally, the only time I drink beer in the morning is when I'm judging a home brew competition. Other than that I usually don't drink before 3.

Call me a prude but I still go along with the old "not before noon" thang.

I had a FBS at 9 in the morning last Sunday just for shits and giggles. I didn't have another for the rest of the morning.

Every once in a while I'll drink an RIS with a shot of espresso in the morning with brunch or something like that.

Someone needs to go to an AA meeting lol

I start my day with iced coffee or a couple of Rockstars/Monsters. Then I may open a beer for lunch if I'm feeling it before watching some football on a Saturday or Sunday.

I reckon if you can have a brunch cocktail you could have a beer? Not sure which beer I would like to have with my brunch though...

I've never been one to have a brew with breakfast and most of the time unless I'm tailgating or playing golf will I ever have one before noon. That said if I am going to start that early it's going to be something relatively low in abv. All day IPA or this past weekend I started with some odd sides citra around noon for my sis's wedding. Keep it low to start because you're probably going to be at it for a while.

Confession: in spite of my avatar I've never had a beer for breakfast but if I did I'm sure my productivity would go down. Not to say that alcohol is out in the morning. My coffee "creamer" is St Brendan's Irish Cream.

stone expresso IRS tastes way better on a lazy morning. It's not common to have a beer in the morning for me but when I partake it's usually at most 24 ozs of stout or porter then get to cleaning an other tasks that need doing around the house.

In Las Vegas on the other hand....

All the disbelievers in this thread obviously don't look much at WBAYDN during the morning on any given weekday.

However, I'm pretty sure that a lot of the people in WBAYDN either work nights or post for da likez.

Maybe not, but I can't believe that that many folks actually drink bombers of 12% beers at 7am, but who knows... I tend to think it more likely on the weekends, though. And in a lot of those pictures you can tell that it is in fact morning wherever they are.

Yeah. I think that Breakfast Stouts are called "Breakfast Stouts" because coffee is added to the mash, and NOT because Founders or any other brewery would like you to drink their beer at breakfast! Although, who knows? It might actually be good for business. For my part, I would never drink a beer in the morning, because it would change the pace of the day. Even if I were to cap it off with only one. I am a morning person, and a person who is much more productive in the morning and afternoon (i.e., the earlier part of the day). I'd rather indulge my productivity - not hinder or hamper it. And then when I've accomplished my daily "To Dos" and most of what I have had to accomplish for the day, then I will give into my beer cravings. Kind of like putting my feet up after a long hard day. I agree with an earlier poster: I won't drink before 3:00 P.M. (unless we're talking weekend days or days that are set aside for recreation, leisure, and rest).

I do have to confess that when I was in my early twenties, there were times when I would wake up and crack open a beer first thing in the morning. But that was only because I was really hung over from all the raucous drinking the night before. At one time, people used to counsel that the best thing for a hangover was a beer the next morning. I don't know that it was the power of suggestion or not, but sometimes that recipe actually worked!

    Somewhere a BA is saying;
"I can't be an alcoholic for drinking a morning beer honey, I mean you should see how early those drunks on beeradvocate start drinking"

By the way, as an addendum to my previous post: I happen to write professionally. And believe it or not, a couple of beers actually stimulates creativity. This is not just my own machinations. Colleagues of mine confirm this feature. But there is definitely a saturation point. Too many beers and the heightened creativity goes right out the window. I would probably say two or three be the max, if you're drinking to heighten your creativity. It all goes out the window after that. And, most importantly, I still won't indulge before 3:00 P.M.
