$8.99 at HEB Grand Pkwy and it doesn't have a bottle date. Will be cracking it in a bit

I am disappointed with this bottle release, they definitely waited too long to release after bottling. So far my experiences are after opening two bottles, none of the tropical/citrusy armoa is present and the flavor has also dropped off. You can tell this was bottled a while ago.

So essentially rotting away in a warehouse like all our other IPAs? Awesome.

Except this one is from the Houston area, and not out of state, so I don't understand why it couldn't be fresher.

Just cracked a bottle - has that nice bitterness I like from a good IPA but lacks the tropical grapefruit that YR is known for. Printed on bottle dates should be mandatory on all beers. I'm a huge YR fan, the people at Lone Pint are terrific, and I know that this will be fixed.

Dammit!! This isn't rocket science. Bottle, quickly release. Bottle, quickly release. Although after sampling multiple growlers the past two weeks, I hope LP starts bottling Zethophile Summit. I now prefer it over Yellow Rose, especially over-the-hill Yellow Rose.

So I had my research assistant (wife) randomize 2 glasses each of YR in bombers and from a growler filled today.

I picked the best one and then the ones I thought were the same blinded. I picked one of the growler glasses as best, but ID'd that one and one of the bomber glasses as the same source. So either I'm bad at this or they're pretty similar. (Note: once I knew which was which I liked the growler best but that clearly could be biased- thought the bomber was a little more bitter and the lack of perceived or actual bitterness is why I love yellow rose)

Conclusion: bombers freshness could be an issue, but to me they are close enough that the ability to have this beer sittingkn the fridge makes the bottles worth it even "so long" after bottling. Also hopefully they date sometime soon, even if that is a sticker on the bottle ala Cedar Creek Dankosaurus 4 pks

Bottle lacking. Not fresh. I'm pissed I paid for them. Really disappointed. Fresh is key.

Since some of your bottles seem to be too old for consumption, I will gladly send you a shipping label so that you can send them to my laboratory for testing.

Hey if anyone wants to get rid of a few bottles I'm gladly ISO... Got the chance to have it on tap back in august and fell in love with it. Hit me up if you'd like to trade. More than happy to throw in some local stuff that just won bronze at GABF.

Bought one yesterday, drank it last night. Not as perfect as a pour from a fresh keg but still a really great IPA. Happy I bought it and will buy some more.

Lone Pint posted a response on their website: http://www.lonepint.com/

    "Update, October 14th:

    *** Bottlegate 2014 ***

Due to numerous queries that we have received concerning our bottle release date, we have the following explanation:
We received word from a high level government intelligence agency that aliens were planning to steal our magical Golden Yellow Rose; the source of the beer's power. To prevent this, it was necessary to hide the Golden Yellow Rose in a deep, dark cave for a few weeks.

    or...

We encountered new product logistical issues that needed to be worked through with our distributor and retailers. Basically, 2/3's of the bottles released were bottled on October 6th, with the other 1/3 a few weeks earlier. The beer is fresh and tasty.

Conspiracies aside, please understand that Lone Pint is a small family owned brewery that is very passionate about beer. To suggest otherwise is..."

Does anyone know if these bottles are bottle conditioned or forced carbonated? If they are falling apart this drastically after only a month it's a problem with LP's bottling practices. Too much O2 in the bottle and warm storage. There is no reason that they should be like that in such a short period of time.

So there is a 33% chance it's not as fresh as we are used to. I'll take those odds with the understanding that it will work itself out.
