Hi all, new to the forum here.

My business partner and I are doing a 90s night at our coffee shop/pub and have been discussing what some quintessential "90s beers" might be. We've got a nice selection of "higher brow" beers, so we wondering: what are some beers that people remember as having a lot of cultural visibility in the 90s?

    Danke!

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Anchor Steam, Arrogant Bastard ( yup, available in the late 90's ).

and if I remember correctly Hefenweizens were quite popular.

Well, if you can get Zima, go with that...otherwise, Sam Adams, Abita Springs and some bad music and you should be OK

Getting them nowadays is going to be the problem- stuff like Pete's Wicked Ale and Celis White were ubiquitous but are no longer brewed.

The biggies like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Samuel Adams Boston Lager and Boston Ale are still around, but I'm not so sure they scream 90s to me.

Maybe Anchor Liberty Ale, Bass Ale, some of the older Anderson Valley stuff, Deschutes Mirror Pond and Black Butte, Pilsner Urquell- all of that in the same place at the same time would probably bring me back.

i would add that the upland core offerings were available in the '90's. the bad elmer porter would be a good choice

Since you mentioned Pete's, I thought Mendocino would also be a great choice.

Agree on Pete's Wicked Ale and SA Cherry Wheat. Another to consider: Killian's Red.

Without a doubt! I saw them a lot more back then.

I would still get the Black Hawk- mostly because it's usually a cheap sixer, but it's also pretty good if you think of it as a porter. They do have a nice English yeast signature, but the beers kinda lack oomph, unfortunately.

I put down a LOT of Red Dog, Icehouse, and Pete's Wicked back in those days! I kind of miss Pete's, though!

I bought one of those once out of curiosity, it just tasted like alcoholic grape soda to me. It's not really beer but it's a dirt cheap way to get drunk fast.
