Ok so I post a question like "who makes this BA Lumberjack, is there a non BA version?" in a ISO/FT thread hoping for some insight but my post was deleted as "iso closed/post off topic." I didn't think I was trolling or anything and was genuinely interested. I've been able to find its brewed by 3 Sons and extremely limited, but 3 Sons only lists 1 beer on BA. How can a beer from a little know brewery go 1:1 with KBBS other than it being very limited? Can anybody tell me more?
IMO, this is a much better place for your question than someone else's (apparently closed) ISO. Edit: The 3 Sons website lists itself as a "femtobrewery". Beware...science coming: if nanobreweries are (obviously this isn't strict calculation) on the order of 10x smaller than microbreweries, femtobreweries would be on the order of 100x smaller than nanobreweries and 1000x smaller than microbreweries. So yeah...super small.
They only brewed 40 bottles of it... and there are for sure less than 30 left at this point... and from what I can tell, it's all word of mouth... I really know nothing of this brewery, but I've just heard that this beer is absolutely outstanding from a couple people... Maybe @joromiller can chime in because I know he's had it at the very least...
Corey (3-sons brewing) is only a home brewer at the moment in Davie, FL. He hopes to be up and running by the end of the year in Dania, FL. He has poured at numerous Beer fests around FL including 2014 Huna Day and thus his beers have gained enormous popularity. BA Lumberjack was a 40 bottle release for his family and friends. B1 Summation was his Huna day release. He has many other beers that he gives out locally to his family and friends and all are amazing. There is a non-BA lumberjack as well, but was not labeled or numbered. All of his beers are incredible and his brewery will be incredibly successful when it opens. BA lumberjack might be the best beer of 2014. Out of the 40 bottles made..i would say 15 of them are still floating around (including 1 in my cellar)...hope this helps..
I first learned about this beer/brewery on instagram. A guy I follow in San Diego had a bottle. He's a big trader and always posts some pretty crazy stuff... but when he posted this, my curiosity was immediately piqued. He said in comments "It's phenomenal! Imagine a more robust version of morning delight with loads of coffee" Not sure how he came by the bottle (trade, or gifted from Corey) but his opinion on the matter can be trusted, as he's cracked all the TG brews multiple times. I have no idea how to ever possibly come by a bottle if they trade like that, but they're now my #1 hope-to-try brewery out there.
That being said, 3-Sons posted that they have another bottle release coming up on Oct 25th. Their instagram post said it's "an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with cocoa nibs and toasted coconut" Sounds aaaa-mazing. ISO!!!
That's for his event in St. Petersburg, FL....10 bottles available and everyone who buys a ticket for the event will be entered into a raffle to win the bottle....
Moral of the story: if you run across a brewer named Corey, pay attention early on and be prepared for a man-crush.
I'm glad they have slightly different spellings to keep us from getting confused. Is this the right place to post that my name is Kory Corrington and I'm opening a brewery?
Wow, good info... incredibly low bottle counts. Hoping he can get things up an running and increase production! (but, ya know, not in that "got too big lost all quality" way)
