Was carrying this up to the counter in my hand and then POW! The employees thought I had just popped a bottle of bubbly! What are the odds of this exploding in my hand after sitting on the shelf for 2 months?! It's not like I was shaking it or dancing up to the counter. That's what I get for trying to checkout with 1 can... Cheers!
Make sure you tell CCB. They already responded to me - there were no other bulging cans at the shop I got this one at.
Interesting because when I sent them a notice about my cubano espresso cans exploding I never heard back.
When White Oak comes out again, STAY THE F$/^ AWAY FROM IT. Give me a call and I'lol take care of it.
I had my mess from the June Cubano batch as others. I picked up a 4 with an Oct 9th brew date today in Brandon at the Cellar. The can is different in color than in the past, so maybe things have changed. I had hoped CCB would have openly addressed the problem on the BA forum, but since that didn't happen, I took risk vs. reward chances, and by Friday, the beer will be history. In the proper manner, of course. I love that stuff.
maybe they should offer everyone 1/3% off anything in the tap room from 3:15 - 3:21pm next tuesday to stress test the new canning procedure.
The response I got from a CCB employee (by email) was more or less: yeah the Cubano's can do this over time especially when not refrigerated (BM if you want further details), but it's news to us that some Happening Now cans are swelling and exploding. Said he would take some cans out of the library to test. Obviously this is a concern to them and they are probably feverishly working on fixing it...in the mean time I'll keep drinking up stock every week to help keep others from being exposed!
I got this in the mail from a friend and I thought it was just from shipping. Guess not. http://imgur.com/OcKKVU4
Sounds like some sanitation issues on the canning line, or something causing them to continue to ferment after canning..
I had this happen on a can of Invasion back in August. I let CCB know and they sent me some swag and an apology.
I sent a sixer of invasion to my sister in Montana and 1 blew up in route. I also assumed it was a shipping issue.
