    Like a less expensive Rubaeus. As it turns out, I rated this beer almost identically. Rubaeus is more intense raspberry with a raspberry sourness, and this is a tiny bit dialed back and tastes more... raspberry cider-y. Is raspberry cider a thing? Probably, right? Tasty stuff!

    Ahhhh! Back to the easy morning and afternoon on BA. SO - while I was thinking that pilsners were under represented at beervana, there were not any - I remembered the thread from here about what would you name your brewery? My brauhaus shall be called Big Mugs. Because people will come in and say things like "Gimme a big mug." :grinning:

    I picked up this growler of Blue Lobster Robust Porter at the brewery Saturday. Blue Lobster was a brewery that quickly became one of my favorites shortly after I first visited them when they opened their doors in November 2012. I used to drive down there every couple of months to take home a couple of growlers of David Sakolsky's (who apprenticed at Hill Farmstead) latest beers. I hadn't been there since October or November of last year, a few months before David was inexplicably fired. After he left I decided to wait and see what others thought of Blue Lobster's beer with the new brewer. The general consensus seemed to be the beer was no longer worth making a road trip for, so my growlers had been gathering dust for nearly a year. But since we were going to be in the area Saturday I decided to check their fb page that morning to see what they had on tap. They had just put the porter on a week earlier so I decided to bring a growler with me and give it a try. I didn't bother sampling anything in the tasting room, just got the growler filled and headed to Smuttynose.

    I actually had half of the growler last night while catching up on some TV shows and never got to posting. I'm drinking the rest of it now. It's a good porter. I preferred David's Ragged Neck Rye, but I would get this if I were in the area again and it was available.
