On another thread, a local BA mentions that a small bar up in Ferntucky is selling bottles of PtE for $25. I'm sure y'all will just be rushing on up there now, won't ya?

Mule? Whatever, no IIPA is worth 25$ / 500 ml. It's great but not that great. Some fool will though.

I have no doubt the locals up there will pay it. But, just between us, is RR still "listed" in WA? Is it even legal for them to be selling this?

Probably about as legal as it was for Enoteca to sell bottles of Westvleteren a number of years ago.

I certainly can't justify spending that. I would never want to spend that much for one beer unless I'd had a chance to try a sample (I did that with 120 Min and afterwards was glad I hadn't bought a bottle!)but if someone can afford to spend that much for one, why not? All dictated by the market, anyway, right? If the demand turns out to be less, then the price will drop (hopefully before the hops do).

PtE is good for about 3 1/2 weeks then begins to fall off rapidly.

$25 a bottle is pretty high, even by DC standards (where a retailer is legally allowed to sell whatever he can get his hands on). However, I guess it's cheaper than driving down to PDX to drink it on draft.

    Just barely... :-)

Good to know. The next bottle I see will be the first I've seen. Literally one shipment was distributed here before RR (?) cut their distribution and it sold out immediately. Before I knew it was here, it was gone.

Plus, if you're worried about cost, you can do your shopping down there and save on sales tax.

Oh, you've been to Ferntucky then? Their idea of a good time is driving over to Lynden. Where you can drink (even though there's only like 3 bars), or you can dance, but you can't do both at the same place, at the same time.

"but you can't do both at the same place, at the same time"

Huh, what? How is that even possible?

It takes at least an entire growler of pliny before I stop caring about how stupid everyone thinks I look out on the dance floor... and then at least another growler more before I stop caring about how stupid I look out there.

You know why Ferntuckians won't have sex standing up don't you? They're afraid it will lead to dancing

Lynden is a very traditional, old school town, and very proud of it's Dutch heritage. They're not particularly welcoming to outsiders, and they actually have a town ordinance against mowing your lawn on Sundays (when one is expected to be in church). So, my dream if I hit the mega-jillions lotto is to hire thousands of illegal immigrants, arm them with lawn mowers, weed eaters, and leaf blowers and mow every lawn in Lynden at 9:30am, on a Sunday.:stuck_out_tongue:

Careful, my Grandparents are from Sedro-Wooley  I still have many cousins in the Wooley, Burlington, Mount Vernon area (beer beer beer)

Why do people in Sedro-Wooley put Cheerios in the ground?
Because they think they're doughnut seeds!

True fact: S-Ws name used to be Bug. When I lived at the south end of Lake Samish, I would ride my bike all through the back roads around Alger, and into Wooley. There's a big historical marker on the edge of town that explains this. Also, Sedro is a corruption of the word Cedar, and oneof the biggest logger barons back in the day was named Wooley. Thus, Bug became Sedro-Wooley.

Have you ever seen the Darius Kinsey photographs? Dude dragged a big-ass, glass plate camera up into all those mountains and documented the logging industry back then. Stunning, absolutely stunning work. He was based out of S-W, and the Whatcom museum here in Bellingham has his archives. There are a couple coffee table books of his work out, I highly recommend them.

On that same thread, dude says there is a different local store with 2013 Abyss on the shelf at $50/bottle.

Interesting, I'd been told it was a Mormon hotbed, although many of the same attitudes probably would apply either way.
