Wookie Jack saved the CDA style for me, if you like CDA's you should grab that, and the Double Jack. If not then the 17 and Double Jack.

Just tried Opal and it's lovely so if you like that style get that. As with everyone else the two easy choices are XVII and Double Jack.

No doubt about it: XVII and Double Jack

Do you get to try them first? I'd probably say the safest bet is XVII and Double Jack, but Wookey Jack is also a great beer. Like really great. Opal is a fine saison to be sure, but if you can only get two I think that's the one I'd skip for sure. Double Jack sure is good though too...

Yeah knowing the kegs would be useful as @zid said. Also the types of beer you like in general.

If BA beers are your thing, then I suppose XVII is a no-brainer for one of them. Having said that, although I do like well-done BA beers myself, I'm honestly not a massive fan of the FW BA offerings (yes I know I'm in the minority). Having tried them all, assuming they were all fresh, and assuming keg choices didn't play a part, I would do 1 x DJ and 1 x WJ.

I'm on the XVII bandwagon. There are very few things like it out there, as opposed to DIPA's. Drink your fill of the beers on tap, which hopefully includes everything that they are bringing bottles of.

If you've never tried a Black IPA, Wookey Jack all the way. One of the best examples of the style. Choice 2: XVII... which pretty much everyone will say because it is far less common than the other 3 in most of the U.S.

Thanks for the advice guys! It turned out to be a very good night!
Only picked up the XVII, as the price points for bottles were ridiculous :stuck_out_tongue: but like you said, it's something that needs to be done. Now I just need to decide when to drink it and who to share it with :stuck_out_tongue:

On tap was Pale 31, Union Jack, Velvet Merkin, Stickee Monkee and DBA... naturally I had my fill of all of them :grinning:

Stickee Monkee and Velvet Merkin were my favourites, but all of them are fantastic beers.

    Nice work @Sam-VW

Glad you had a great time and that you were able to get a bottle of FW XVII. Enjoy!

Their beers are great, and David Walker is pretty cook, eh?

You said the prices were high .. what were they like?

I'll be in Edinburgh in two weeks and could bring some FW with me if you want it, but I doubt that's close to you :stuck_out_tongue:

Was a shame, but I'm definitely grabbing some when I'm over in March!

David seems like a great guy!!

Ranged from £3.95 for Pale 31 to £9.10 for Stickee Monkee. Bottles were around £15 for the large ones and £9 for the small ones. The bar was setting the prices so they were pretty high.

Ah man, if I was near Edinburgh I'd say a definite yes but unfortunately I'm the other end of the country :slight_frown: If there's anything you enjoy when here, I'd be happy to bring some over for you in March to CA.
