Blind Faith Purchasing: After one does an adequate amount of researching from multiple sources on a beer style they know they enjoy decides to buy a 12 pack( Or six pack) of it from a brewery they never tried, because the evidence, reviews and over criticism about the beer is positive and seems to appeal to their needs.

Well I just did this with Dales Pale Ale. I bought a 12 pack of it based on my research. The beer has all the credentials I could want in an American Pale Ale.
    • The brewery revives a 95 overall on beeradvocate ( "does an adequate amount of researching" )
    • Ratebeer scores are outstanding: 98/99 ( "does an adequate amount of researching" )
    • Beeradvocate scores on the beer also good ( "does an adequate amount of researching" )
    • Commonly compared to Serria Nevada( A benchmark for pale ales )
    • More Hopped forward then normal pale ales( "seems to appeal to their needs." )
    • Canned Beer is awesome ( "seems to appeal to their needs." )
    • FRESH BEER ( Canned only 13 days ago!!! )
With all this in place I popped open a can thinking I just found my everyday drinking beer only to be left in disappointment. Epic Fail ( for me personally ), has this happened to anyone of you lately?

And what was the purchase price for said 12 pack? Personally I've always liked Dale's Pale, even on my first blind purchase of it.

BA reviews while meant to be objective are certainly subjective based on the experience and preferences of the rater. I wont even get started on local bias as it relates to some breweries. People pumping brews they intend to use as trade material also happens pretty often.

Its all part of the craft beer experience. For every expensive turd I've run into I've found as many reasonably priced gems.

Well, to each their own, but when you said "Fresh", I had to look away. But, I have had some fails like that in the past, I just choose to forget it ever happened and don't remember the names...

Weyerbacher Insanity for me, bought a 4 pack drank half of one, gave the rest away. Although I have since learned that this batch from 2014 was apparently bad from the get go.

Pretty much everything I have ever had from Founders has been a disappointment...never like drain pour status but never lived up to the expectations given the ratings on here.

Backwoods Bastard. Simply terrible waste of a Scotch ale.

I wince when people use the word fail.

Trust your own tastes and be glad that your tastes aren't exactly the same as others... but your feelings about a particular beer can also change over the years.

If you've only had one can so far, keep an open mind until you've had a few from your pack.

Otter Creek Overgrown. Drain poured. Subsequently sent a bottle to a BA in NH who loved the beer, and he agreed my batch was drain pour worthy. Date was fine, it was not old.

Many, many other more mild disappointments, including Smutty Finest Kind, which I heard was much improved and did not like at all.

This. The only ones I do enjoy are the imperial stout and kbs. All the others are rather disappointing. I will also include HF. And i already got shitted on a couple days ago for expressing this opinion, no need for a second dose!

You should write a review. And not set your expectations so high.

I would take that with a grain of salt.

    Even FIS?
