@PA-Michigander dropped a surprise porch-bomb on me this March on my birthday (he didn't know) which happened to be the day before my daughter's birth (he didn't know) I'm trying to remember what all was in that one... Founders Imperial Stout, I think there was a BCBS in there... other goodies as well, it was an awesome box, I just have a terrible memory. Oh - Ten Fidy and maybe a Hi-Res too?

@JohnParadee sent me a surprise four pack of Heady when he found out I was going on vacation. Awesome guy and I owe him something special.

 

Well we were madly in love with three kids, two dogs, and a old station wagon cruising across America. Because of those wonderful memories, I send him lots of beer to help with his amnesia! (For some reason he doesn't remember any of it)

Just yesterday a moderator (WAHT??? ) Yes a moderator sent me a box for no real reason @blue-dream blew up my porch with a bunch of pipeworks hoppy goodness and even included As you Wish and Gravedigger Billy. Guy is phenomenal and just goes to show that mods are NOT the wurst

 

I hope he don't mind me giving him a shout out, but @pluchar is a heck of a guy! I've got some great trading relationships that were formed on here, but Kevin went above and beyond and recently sent me a care package that is better than most Christmas presents!

 

Every bottle share I've been to. No specific trade. People like sharing good beer and not having it alone

 

MarkGuggs sent me some tasty stuff & wanted nothing in return. Nuff said...

 

I received a package of Allagash White with a couple of home brews thrown in courtesy of @Lehighace06 when I mentioned that it was on my top 10 wannatries in a post, for which I am eternally grateful. To thank him I sent a couple of MN brews and some homebrew (a decent Belgian Pale that was supposed to be a Dubbel) from my next door neighbor's boyfriend.

 

I included two bottles of Victory Hop Devil in my trade to someone who didn't have access to them. He, in turn, gave me two local brews that I didn't have access to.

 

@Brogen13 hooked me up big time. It was only my 2nd trade and he sent me about 10 or 12 beers, all stuff that I can not get here in OK, and have never had. He sent Huna, Permanent Funeral, Two Hearted, DFH 90 minute, Racer 5, a growler from Tired Hands ect... I still can't believe how generous he was. There are some truly awesome people on this website.

 

Sammyjaxxxx!!! Sent me two extraordinary boxes of beers! My first Pliny and Heady thanks to this generous man.

 

I'm flattered to be mentioned in this thread, but guys, @PA-Michigander needs to win the nonexistant "BA of the Year" award.

Back when I didn't know him (or Ray) as well yet, I got the two switched up, and suggested a wager between he and I over a sporting event, hoping to get the beer in his avatar, White Rajah... which is in @RayOhioFelton's avatar (also an upstanding BA)... I think it's that they're both primarily green colored avatars, I just got my wires crossed.

Well, it just so happened that at the same time, @RayOhioFelton put up an ISO for a Mexican Cake. @PA-Michigander saw an opportunity to make us both happy, and offered the Mexican Cake that he had to Ray, on the condition that Ray send me some White Rajah (which he couldn't get himself, but Ray can). Long story short, he was eventually repaid this kindness, but there was no expectation of it from him whatsoever, he just wanted to make two beer lovers happy (and certainly did).


edit: No one has even mentioned that this dude has put together a fun LIF on a monthly basis, all year

I will second @PA-Michigander 's generosity and awesomeness. Sent me a great box of beer because I hadn't had the chance to try 2014 Black Note. Even threw in a Pliny the Elder shirt! It arrived the day after my birthday. What's up with you and birthdays, my friend?!

 

Wanna tell the people what you had to do to keep all of the beers you received? This box was not all about kindness.

Recently had a great trade with @will7857 he really outdid me on the trade, I owe him. About a year ago had another BA send me two bottles of Backwoods Bastard because I had never had it before, very considerate.

 

@crowellbw was my first trade--earlier this year--, and helped me obtain a beer that I wasn't going to find anywhere for some IPAs he could have easily gotten on his own. He also provided a great extra (also unobtainable for me), just because I was totally new--to the site and even to beer itself. This helped set the tone for all my ideas about, and interactions with, BAs.

There have been just two more formal occasions since, each marked by similar generosity and fellowship. @Anaxagoris just decided, out of a kindness of spirit, to give me a fresh bottle of a non-local beer I had sought to trade for. He did this even after his girlfriend drank two of the four he had just received!

Finally, @BabyTree did something similar, but amplified. He had all 3 of the beers I sought in a trade, and was only too happy to help me try them all. Perhaps because he's been at this so much longer than me, and certainly because he's exceptionally generous, he adamantly refused to accept what I brought him as compensation/thanks.

How I'll ultimately repay him, and these other BAs who were so helpful, is by behaving with the same magnanimity and inclusiveness myself. Or always aspiring to, anyway. (They set the bar awfully high, after all.)
