They specifically have to bring 3 separate sixtels of each beer so that no beer can be overtapped and run out before one of the later sessions. How is that not true in practice?

I am sure this has been asked and answered already in this thread, but I don't really have time to read through 9 pages...At FOBAB, do the breweries allocate a keg of everything for each session? Or will all the hyped stuff be gone after the first hour of the first session?

You don't need to read through 9 pages, just read two posts up from yours...

It's happened with bottles. You don't have to believe me.

Did it? I remember the bottles - including chase bottles like Utopia - getting a replensish between sessions.

How much of that Resurgam was left for session 2 last year?

This is more true unfortunately. They definitely hold some bottles back for each session. They should evenly divide them but it sometimes happens that extra bottles are opened at the first session and the last ones get much less and are gone very quickly .

    I believe 4 measly bottles.

FoBAB organizers are still looking for volunteers. If you got shut out on tickets this a a great way to get into the festival for FREE.

    This was the original email:
We are putting the call out for volunteers for the 2014 Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beers! This year's event will be held on November 14 and 15 at the UIC Forum, 725 W Roosevelt Road, Chicago, IL.

Also, for volunteering, you will be able to attend a session as well. As we are offering this as a benefit, we will require that you work the shift you are required to work in its entirety and perform all duties as assigned. If we see that you are not fulfilling your role, you will be asked to leave and forfeit your ticket to the event. We want this to be as an enjoyable experience for both our guests and your fellow volunteers.

I'll be there doing the volunteering deal from noon-530 on Saturday / knocking a few back for the first 45mins or so of the second session as I can't stay around too long. Should be good times as I haven't attended FOBAB since 2010.

I have a ticket for the Friday session but am not currently and IMBIBE member. I was just told in an email from ICBG that if you join now, you will not be able to get in an hour early for the Friday session.

Last year a few friends did exactly this and showed PayPal receipts and got in an hour early. I guess they changed this for 2014.

I'm not an imbibe member so don't take this the wrong way, but if you aren't a member of imbibe 3 weeks before the event starts, why would you get the benefits?

If I were an imbibe member that shit would piss me off.

Been an member for over a year now. When the presale for imbibe members took place I wasn't able to make it so I didn't buy a ticket. Plans changed and got a Friday regular ticket. it would be nice if I could get in a five but it's how it goes

Because that's one of the ways they sell memberships so that they can get money to advocate for beer-friendly policies in Springfield.

So which one of you fine gentlemen going to the Friday session will be gracious enough to post the beer list Friday evening or Saturday morning/afternoon so those of us in the later session know what we are getting into?

i think ICBG posts a list in advance that's pretty good though there are always some changes. but like, one day in advance.

No they don't. The competition = no lists posted beforehand.

Been that way for a good while now.

As the judging is over Friday morning/afternoon, I'd imagine as lists are distributed before and during the Friday evening session, you'll start to see beer info (aside from what brewers reveal on their own when prompted or via their social media).

But no, you won't see a list the day before the event due to the ramifications of judging.
